YHA Hartington Hall

The check in was easy and clear instructions were provided about the facilities. Clean room with comfortable bed. Unfortunately there was no WiFi in the room that I stayed in and no mobile phone coverage on Vodafone for calls or mobile data. WiFi was available in the main building which had a bar and restaurant. The price of the room was very good.

Fantastic place. Great for walkers, cyclists & anyone that wants to discover the area.

Historic building in a Derbyshire Dales village. Hostel serving food all day. Village has two shops selling snacks pasties and papers plus 2 pubs. Great food at the local pub hotel. Check in from 3 pm. We visited the Crich Tramway village which was close by.

Stayed in a 6 bed private room with en-suite, which offered enough space. The building was especially interesting, maintaining many of its historic features. Comunal lounge areas were a nice environment, although shared kitchen was rather small. Village of Hartington is only 2 min walk from hostel, with a few pubs and cafes. We ate at Devonshire Arms and Charles Cotton Hotel which were very good. Main downside was parking. When we turned up on the Friday evening to check in, the car park was full with cars parked all down the road too. We did manage to get a space on the other nights we stayed, but the car park could do with some marked bays, or being extended to increase capacity. Also, and a small critique, was the bathrooms did not have enough shelves/towel hooks. This was a similar issue in the bedrooms, with no where to put things other than on the floor. Aside from that a good stay and would recommend.

The housee itself is gorgeous, with interestingly confusing layout. The room that we had was good, good sized and thankfully en-suite. The grounds are lovely. The staff were helpful. Our kids loved that there were farm cats around and could hear the cattle. The only downsides I can think of was that they self-serving kitchen was in a seperate building, and it was always busy. The car park was a bit of a free-for-all. But all in all, would very happily stay here again.

Beautiful old medieval building with tons of character. Very warm and cosy in our Barn accommodation block. Kitchen very clean and tidy. A very warm welcome from Jack and the team at reception. We did two of the advertised walks to Pilsbury which were very enjoyable. WiFi in the main areas but not everywhere. Highly recommend.
