I stayed 3 nights a week ago after my hiking plans were disrupted by the weather. This place is actually two very old buildings connected by an open courtyard. Some serious repairs are needed. I noticed one of the chimneys has a hole at the base and a large crack. Pricing and knowing what you're getting is erratic. The owner is difficult to communicate with, especially over the phone. I thought my room had a bathroom but it didn't. The toilet was one floor up. If I wanted to take a shower, that was in the other building. Some bathrooms are shared. The place is cluttered and messy. The inside steps are uneven; outside, you have to climb old stone stairs to reach the properties. Some door frames are low and head knockers. There is a store inside where you can buy some drinks and food and there is a microwave to cook it. My room had a bunk bed, full size on the bottom, empty bookcases and some other broken furniture stored in it. There was also a sewer smell in my part of the building. Glenda, the manager, does a good job trying to keep the place clean. I think she is the glue that keeps the place functioning. The only big plus to staying here is the location in Lower Town Harpers Ferry. Otherwise, I would not recommend it.
