Clear River Inn and Tavern

Another great stay at Clear River Inn to ski at Killington. This is Vermont hospitality at its best. When the outstanding restaurant out back-The Toasted Pecan-closed tonight because of the two feet of snow that fell today (to ensure the safety of the truly great staff there), the proprietors of this lovely inn threw a complimentary barbq for the entire inn so that their guests would not have to venture out into the vestiges of the storm. The vibe was as good as the food. This is just one example of why this is our go to place in Killington. They know how to treat people right. Highly recommended!

Just returned home from the clear and we absolutely loved it - we booked a last minute ski trip to Killington and it was super convenient about a 15 min drive. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable the breakfast nook was great for a quick breakfast before hitting the slopes. This was a hidden gem and we can’t wait to come back! Also the Tavern in the back was a great added bonus!

Vermont is perfect any season of the year, and this is simply a perfect spot for any stay. Lovely road side motel that is impeccably clean, nicely (albeit not extravagantly) appointed, totally comfortable and chock full of great amenities, including a nice breakfast bar and fast and dependable wifi. Tavern with delicious food right around the back, and just a short drive to Killington (where we skied this time). But by far and away the best part of this stay was everyone who works there, from the owners to every other member of the staff we interacted with. Old school, in the best sense of the phrase. We can't wait to get back. Highly, highly recommended.

I was visiting my grandson who plays hockey for UVM and as I have a Nordic ski resort in Minnesota I was visiting some operations in Vermonth and this day I was coming from Craftsbury Commons and I got a late start and heading south to Hanover. It seemed to get dark by 3:30 and it was raining and I wanted to stop as night driving in a heavy rain was not fun, I looked for a place to stay. I was on the back roads so to speak, and stopped at the Inn in Warren and they wanted $1000 for a room. Hello, but no thanks and I drove on. Got to Pittsfield and like a mirage, here was the Clear River Inn. Well lit and stopped and did they have a room. Lady was no nice and friendly and Yes they did at a great price, easy parking right in front like I like, and I checked in. Room super clean, a great bathroom and as I was cold, a nice hot shower with lots of hot water. And as I was hungry, and the next door tavern was open as a Wednesday I was in luck. Just a short half minute walk and I was there. Again most welcoming and surprised as almost a full house on a week day night. And it seemed all non tourists and locals more at the senior level. So nice to see such a happy crowd. Had a great meal, and back to my room for a good nights sleep The mattress and blankets so nice and comfortable. On my way in the morning and feel so lucky to have found such an accommodating place. If in the area and in need of a great place to stay, I would highly recommend the Clear River Inn. Just like our July 2019 visit, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent Sept/Oct 2022 visit (in Room 6). The rooms are immaculately clean, the beds were comfortable, the breakfasts were great, and the inn’s location in the heart of the Green Mountains is incredible. Behind the rooms, a crystal clear, boulder-studded river flows beside a mountain which makes for a great way to start your mornings or to simply enjoy Vermont’s beauty any time of the day. Their onsite restaurant and tavern provides a convenient way to enjoy a delicious dinner. If you ever want to see Vermont’s fall foliage at its peak, this inn is in the PERFECT location. Northern Vermont’s foliage usually peaks a week to 10 days before it does in southern Vermont. The Clear River Inn is located in central Vermont, so you are at most an hour away from seeing peak foliage during foliage season. In our case we lucked out; it peaked in central Vermont while we were staying at the Clear River Inn, so we didn’t have to travel at all from the inn to see it. This review would not be complete without mentioning how great the staff is. Fiona, Mark, Caitlin and two other ladies I didn’t get the names off manage this place with virtual perfection. Everything runs so smoothly at this inn, which is much appreciated.

Nice place and it also has located on the site is a tavern with good food. They had a really nice breakfast a couple things you can microwave for a hot sand which. We could not find a heat control in the room for heat. We just used more blankets.
