Tortue Hamburg - Schöner Als Die Fantasie

I cannot find complaint at all with anything regarding Tortue Hotel. Absolutely everything was excellent - location, staff, room, breakfast, bar, everything. I simply could not offer a better recommendation for a short break. It really was first class in every way.

We stayed in a king suite and I loved everything about this comfortable, beautiful room. It was pristine and well decorated with a full kitchen that was well equipped. We even had a second powder room. Everything a short walking. It was a true vacation.

Hardly much to say really. If you are looking for close to perfection, then this is it. I can't think of anything negative nor giving any suggestions. Just all in all a really pleasant stay. A really good asian restaurant onsite as well. The waiters might ask you to tip them out of their own free spontaneity, which is an approach that feels almost like a forced tipping, just an approach that is a bit too 'American' styled for me. For the rest, we are returning to the hotel as soon as we can!!

What a great hotel. It checks all the boxes. Maintenance is so good that there wasn't a scuff or dent in the paint in the room. I could've sworn I was the first guest to every say there. Plus, the room, which was on the first floor and faced the main street, was exceptionally quiet. The bed - fantastic. Location, the reason we chose this hotel, was as good as we expected. As an added bonus, we needed an inexpensive quick bite one night and the Indian restaurant in the nearby adjoining courtyard turned out to be exceptional. Front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Best of all, I was there during my birthday and never said a word but walked in the room that night after a long day out and there was a blueberry tart and chocolate on a plate with a "happy birthday" greeting and card. Very classy thing to do. My only suggestion would be a friendlier wait staff at breakfast, but the food and selection met our needs. Would return.

Hotel is extremely nice, modern. Clean pleasant and welcoming staff, and reasonable value for money. The location is excellent in a charming city. I would absolutely visit again. However, the breakfast lets things down badly. Very few people seemed to take breakfast, and it is rather expensive. The breakfast is also not at all German, which is very strange. I know the hotel is called "Tortue" and therefore probably feels some pressure to appear French - however one of the best things about Germany is breakfast. I would suggest that you rethink the breakfast menu and offer the opportunity to people to have a generous helping of Brötchen, butter, sweet jams and local honey, thinly sliced meats, cheese, Coffee or tea, gekochtes Ei, fruit and museli. This is what 90%+ of what tourists and local people actually want to eat, and it is good and delicious and you should be proud of it. Breakfast attempts to be cool, but an attempt to be special and ends up disappointing.
