Stella Maris is a warm wonderful place to stay! The staff there is incredible and go out of their way every moment to make sure you are comfortable, having fun, have all you need, etc. The views and food are spectacular and waking up to children singing through the week was a highlight!

You could not fault this place! From the moment we arrived you are embraced with the biggest warmest African welcome hug to make you feel at home! The staff were amazing, rooms were nice and comfortable couldn’t fault this place. Staff go above and beyond on all occasions, highly recommend

Very welcoming and accommodating staff! Clean, hot water, AC, comfortable beds, excellent food choices for breakfast & dinner. We stayed here before & after our Mt Kilimanjaro climb. All profits from this hotel go to helping run the adjacent primary school. I would stay here again!

We were fortunate to stay at Stella Maris Lodge before and after our trek on Kilimanjaro. The hotel is located down a quiet private drive, behind a school that the hotel helps support. Every staff person we interacted with was welcoming, always helpful, and incredibly kind. They were even accommodating enough to bring us into town to buy a charger we had forgotten. Beds and the rooms are comfortable. The food in the restaurant is delicious!

Stayed here with friends in preparation and returning from climbing Kilimanjaro and it was the best way to do so! Wonderful staff and amazing food! So friendly and welcoming and it was the perfect start and ending. Special mention also to Innocence - BOOM! Thank you!

If you’re looking for another sterile, boring hotel like every other one, Stella is not for you. From the moment we stepped out of the Landcruiser we were greeted with big smiles and even bigger hugs. We were instantly family with all the staff and they made us feel like VIPs. We fell in love with Tanzania because of the people at Stella Maris. Beautiful people and wonderful amenities. We would stay here again and again without hesitation.

I have just returned from a stay at the Stella Maris Lodge and I cannot say enough about Teddy, the Manager, Schola & Esther the receptionists and the entire staff. Their welcome is unique, the food is amazing, the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the value for money is unequalled. The owners of this establishment (the Catholic Church I believe) must be so grateful to have such an amazing team operating to such a high standard. The adjacent school which is supported by the Lodge must be thriving. It's a bonus if you get to meet some of the children, they are wonderful.

We stayed in two different rooms at Stella Maris before and after our Kilimanjaro trek with G Adventures. Our second room was a King room and more spacious and nicer than our first (which had a double and a twin) but both were nice rooms and bathrooms. Pros: Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, on-site restaurant with delicious food, they make it easy to arrange transfers and tours to town or the airport or really anywhere you need to go, nice outdoor space to relax in, views of Kilimanjaro (when/if the clouds clear!), and knowing that your money is benefiting the children at the Stella Maris school is wonderful too. Cons: Limited hot water! Because we had climbed Kili this was a big bummer, since my fiance had to take a half cold shower when we came down. You share a water heater with another room for most rooms, so just be wary of taking longer showers. They do also price beer and water pretty high, so for the convenience just know you are paying a lot. Besides that, a great place to stay and the staff make the 5 stars!
