The Golf Tavern is a great little boozer and B&B in Haddington and was an ideal place for the girlfriend and myself to base ourselves whilst attending the Fringe Festival at nearby North Berwick. Staff here are very friendly and at the top of their customer service game. The Golf Tavern is truly a lovely venue, we had room 4 with an en-suite on the ground floor and it was perfectly fine for our needs and budget. The bed was huge and I slept like a baby. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, top quality bacon and a nice bit of haggis in there, I especially liked the older chap in the chef’s whites coming out to double-check our selected breakfast items and ask if we’d had a comfortable night which I found lovely, kind, caring and that personal touch you sometimes get at such venues like this, I’m more than happy to recommend The Golf Tavern in Haddington.

The proprietor of this hotel and his family are VERY nice people and the service at the restaurant for breakfast was great, but the room accommodations were pretty depressing. Our room was very small -as was the bathroom. My husband and I woke up in the middle of the night and there was just no air flow at all. If you're going to visit the GOlf Tavern hotel, you may be better off sticking to the bar and restaurant. Sorry to say this because the owner is just so nice!

We mistakenly expected this to be a golf resort. It turned out to be a back street pub with a few bedrooms in the rear. The room that we were assigned was tiny to the extent that the double bed took up nearly all the space in the room. The closet was equipped with four wire coat hangers and the en-suite bathroom had a small shower. Our reservation was for two nights but the accommodation was so depressing that after ten minutes we decided to leave and forfeit the pre-paid charge. The bar staff who checked us in, however, were very pleasant and welcoming.

The property is old and needed a good renovation. No maud service. Bed was not remade. Parking awful. Overpriced for the accommodation provided.

Great stay on the way to Edinburgh Airport
The staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Room was totally adequate for our needs, good value for money. Staff were highlight of the stay, so lovely! The woman offered us advice for our travels, helped us get sorted and sat and chatted with us in the bar. We didn’t catch her names but the two blonde lady was fab. Would definitely recommend this place.
