Clean convenient pub with rooms. Very friendly and approachable staff. Clearly popular with the locals the bar was busy Friday and Saturday night but soon emptied around 1030/1100pm. I had dinner both nights and the food was exceptional. All in all excellent value for money, great food and a friendly welcome.

Lovely stay. Close to Hay-and-Wye book town (15-20 minutes drive). Surrounding countryside is beautiful. There is parking out front. It's an old building & bit quirky, but room fitted out with everything you need (hairdryer, tea & biscuits etc), clean and comfortable. Peaceful & easy-going atmosphere.

We ate in the restaurant tonight. Ww both had the pork steak with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and it was really good. Lovely mash. Large portions. The broccoli spears were very fresh. There were no surprises in the bill. We'll definitely come again.

Favorite place of all. Been there several times through the last 30 years. An original place. Great location if you want to go fishing in the River Wye, or hiking or just explore the beautiful landscape. The staff is very kind and helpful and the food is excellent. Looking forward to our next stay.

Ordered our meal, it came, looked good, tasted awful. Greasy Arancini Beef, under toasted garlic bread which oozed oil when lifted up. Seabass looked lovely, but again tasted of nothing. The plate was dripping in grease and peas undercooked totally lacked flavour . So disappointing to say the least!! The lady behind the bar was accommodating thankfully.

Charming red brick former coaching Inn set in a quiet hamlet near the Wye and a popular destination for fishermen. Very pleasant landlord, staff and locals. Bedroom was large, bed comfortable and shower room very clean. Food excellent, good choice at breakfast, and evening meals included a wonderful chicken pie and the next night beef brisket with port. Soups...leek and potato, and tomato and basil were also good. To be recommended.

Not been here for many years but after seeing Facebook we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The food was exceptional, the welcome was warm and more importantly, we were not rushed. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and we will definitely go again.

Nice old fashioned pub with great local beers. Large beer garden with friendly and helpful staff. Had a very enjoyable lunchtime in the garden and enjoyed the food as well as the beer. Plenty of space to park tandems. A short stroll takes you to the river, which is lovely.

We chose the hotel to fish the local River Wye.... Not good in the recent heatwave from a fishing perspective. But the Owners and Staff were excellent and the hotel was spotless. Superb bar with great beers and of course good banter and fishy tales. Lovely place and only 15 minutes from Hay on Wye. We will 100% be back.
