Château Saint Gilles

Our first visit to Normandy and Bayeux could not have started better than at Château St Gilles. Very efficient and courteous staff. Room was excellent and breakfast spread was very good. We also had a la crate dinner and food was excellent. If we ever come back to Bayeux we will definitely go back here and will be highly recommending to friends and family !

We stayed here for a couple of days before heading to Paris for the Olympics and couldn't have been happier with it. I wish we'd had more time there. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. It's absolutely beautiful. There's a pool, perfectly manicured grounds, clean, well-maintained property with big rooms, comfortable beds and showers. It's very close to Bayeux but slightly outside of the downtown area so it's quiet and relaxing. They have a lovely little restaurant that's open most of the day. They serve produce they grow onsite and wonderful Calvados and cider from the region. There's a nice breakfast spread with the best coffee machine ever. Special thank you to the three young ladies who served us dinner on August 1st. They were delightful. It was a perfect homebase for our visit to the D-day beaches. Unfortunately, I just took pics of the food but go see it for yourself.

Fantastic.........loved every minute. The suite was so comfortable - haven’t slept like that in years !

My husband and 7yo daughter stayed for 2 nights in a family suite. The room was impeccably clean, spacious and had lovely views out over front lawn. It was close to Bayeux for local tourist attractions. The breakfast and dinner were wonderful and had children’s options at both. The hot tub and sauna open now (October) were a lovely surprise. Staff excellent, especially the masseuse who kindly dealt with an awkward issue involving another guest with discretion and efficiency. His massages were great too. Would seriously consider coming back with friends next time.

We stayed with a tour group for three nights. The rooms are well appointed, quiet, with all toiletries included. The buffet breakfast had many options with local products from the region. We enjoyed two group dinners at the restaurant that were very tasty. All the servers and staff were extremely friendly.

This proprerty is an absolute treasure--I absolutely recommend it for a stay in beautiful Normandie. It is located near Bayeux and the towns along the D-Day beaches, etc. The grounds are expansive and immaculately kept. The staff are welcoming, friendly yet professional in attitude. All the staff we encountered spoke French, English and some a few other languages. The rooms had individual layouts but each was thoughtfuly appointed, incredibly comfortable and roomy. The breakfast was varied , fresh and tasty, with offerings for both European and North American (and other!) tastes. We also ate dinner in the dining room for 2 of the 3 nights we stayed here--excellent menu choices beuautifuly presented, and many wine and drink offerings. The amenities in the grounds included sauna, hot tub, an outdor pool (seasonal); spa treatments are available. Another nice touch was the self-serve laundry, (no coins needed!) including soap. Appreciated as we were on a 13 day tour. You could also send laundry out for cleaning. If staying here make a point of walking around the grounds as you'll discover some lovely gardens, and livestock (Sheep, cow, donkey!) So if travelling to Normandie, do yourself a favour and treat yourself to this exceptional property.
