Stayed at Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel from April 8 to 22, 2024 in the Adults only section. We came as a couple and were looking for a relaxing break away from home. This resort fit the bill perfectly for us. Following is our comments and suggestions if you are planning to go to this resort: 1) On arrival at the airport and you want a beer for the trip to the resort, buy it before you get on the bus for $1.00 instead of $5.00 on the bus. 2) Shorts and sandals are allowed in all restaurants for men. 3) There are no coffee makers in the rooms. Adult only section has Butler service that will bring coffee to you on request. 4) Canadian, American or Euro paper currency are all accepted on the resort as tips. All paper money must be in new condition. DO NOT bring Canadian coins because they are not accepted at Cuban banks. $1.00 American bills is best for small tipping. A suggestion is to bring extra Canadian $20.00 bills that you can exchange for coins that people do bring and then take home with you. 5) We are not smokers, so second hand smoke bothers us. There are No Smoking areas designated but not observed by guests and not enforced by staff. The breeze always blows in the same direction so with a little bit more planning and enforcement everyone could be happy with the smokers down wind from the non smokers. 6) Non cash gifts are really appreciated by staff who you encounter on a daily basis. Some things are very expensive or impossible to purchase. Razors and dry soup mixes are some suggestions. 7) Food was plentiful and tasty, but if you want some of your flavors from home bring you condiments and favorite salad dressings with you. 8) There was absolutely NO soft drinks available at the bars, no coke, club soda etc. were not available for drink mixes. (This could change at anytime) 9) There was lots of bottled water available in rooms, bars and restaurants. As mentioned in almost every review on this site, the staff are a big part of the success of this resort. There are over 500 rooms here and when full that represents about 1100 clients. With a staff of around 500. That is a ratio of almost 1 staff person for 2 guests. We acknowledge that every staff member we met during our 2 week stay did their job professionally and with a smile. Saying that, we would like to give special mention to the staff that we interacted with on a regular basis. Alex the tennis and pickleball Pro. He is always available to give you lessons or just play a vigorous match with you. He is also full of information regarding any Hotel information or information about life in Cuba. He has contacts to help you with any gifting to the local people that you may want to do. I played pickleball with him and other guests every day except Sunday which is his day off. My husband and I stayed here for one week in April after it was recommended by a friend who was there in February with no issues. This hotel is fairly new. The rooms are beautiful and clean, the lobby is nice and open and the beach is wide but not long--it is only the length of three hotels. We were surprised that the food was better than we thought we would get. The shows were pretty good but we didn't see all of them. On the downside: There is only one set of elevators for the whole three buildings on the one side. So if you have a room in the building closest to the water, you have to walk down 3-4 flights of stairs or walk all the way back to the elevator and then down to the pools. Also, there is no ramp to the beach. People with walking issues, walkers, or baby strollers had a rough time. Baby carriages had to be walked down 15-25 stairs to the beach from the hotel. Also, there is no benches from the last pool to the lobby on each side of the centre to rest on if needed. Therefore, this hotel is not handicap/older people/young family friendly. Pretty sad for a new hotel. The food as I said was better-except no pizza or french fries for the young ones-- than expected but not the liquor. They had no coke, no ginger ale, no tonic, no soda water, no Vodka and no type of Baileys. The sangria's were good as well as the punches but who can drink punch all day long. The beach restaurant by the water is quite nice for lunch; however, on one occasion all four toilet stalls had no toilet paper. I had to go find management to advise them of this--pretty disgusting. The adults only restaurant you pay for was not worth the extra $55 Canadian. The apps and salad was the same as the other al a cartes and the main course was not worth the extra money. We have been travelling for over 30 years and this was our fourth trip to Cuba. However, I think it will be our last. For what we paid we got our money's worth but with knee problems and frustrations it was very frustrating at times.

The work team of the grand muthu almirante beach are very professional with their services and attention.especially at the buffet Anilsis Mustelier ,Alex and Jorge in the Bars .also Tony Ross and the Tiger. In the Buffet very nice person Ana .she cut the fruits

This resort is beautiful. The grounds are well landscaped. We did not do VIP. Guest Services/Front Desk There was 4 of us each in our own room. We had emailed ahead of time asking to be close together which the reply was that it would be fulfilled. It wasn’t but we understood it was very busy that week. We were greeted when our bus arrived by a not so friendly gentleman who refused to give us a wifi password making us come back in the morning. Some of us needed to notify family of our arrival. Rooms Modern and beautiful. Mine (6018) smelled of cigarette smoke and had tiny ants throughout. I did not complain as it happens, I get it. The ants were all through my bags though and I found out no one else in my party had this problem. Entertainment The disco was fun. The entertainment during the day seemed to be minimal. If there was anything happening you couldn’t hear the microphone half the time. Night time entertainment I did not attended but others in my party did and they enjoyed it. Food/Drinks There is always something to eat. We didn’t go hungry. The Indian a la carte was amazing. International was fair. The others in my party went to the Italian and enjoyed it. The drinks were always cold and always flowing. No complaints. Special mention to a bartender at the swim up bar Tania. She went above and beyond every single day! Staff This is my only complaint. I did not find the staff friendly or helpful. I’ve been to other local resorts with much lower stars and the staff are engaging and friendly and fun. Here it was like a bunch robots. I had to get up and find someone to bring us coffee and water in the mornings. We eventually found one server who went the extra mile for us. She was amazing and we loved having her every evening at dinner. Her name was Anilsis. Her pic is included in my review.

All around great resort. Friendly staff great food. Very clean and beach and pool were amazing. Kids were never bored, and plenty of food and alcohol choices. The kids especially enjoyed playing water polo with Cesar, who's part of the entertainment staff who made their trip so much fun!

The third time I visit this Hotel and it always has many, but many new things, which one can enjoy and have a great time with the family. The workers' staff are very friendly. Thank the Animation team, which was what made it possible for my vacation to be much more fun, especially the animator Daikel and Solangel also thank the guys at the Aquapark, who I don't remember their name, but they are also very, very friendly.

Had the best time with my family! The hotel is very clean and the food was great! Maria our cleaning lady is the sweetest human in the world! She is so helpful, so attentive and became a great friend of ours! The room was always spotless, and the decorations she would make made my daughter very happy every day! Thank you Maria we love you, youre the best! We will be coming back very soon!

I want to write about kids club crew. My son stayed in kids club every day. People working there are extremely responsible, loving, caring and passionate about what they do. And most of all- they love kids. I want to acknowledge Magdeline- supervisor. Special thanks to Solangel at kids club and mini disco! Special thanks to Patricia whom I took Spanish lessons with! She speaks French, Italian and English!!!! Thanks to Pacho for great natural shakes! Thanks to Miguel, Daniel the DJ, cuban carnaval- we really enjoyed it! Most of all I want to thank Adriana at the kids club who was extremely dedicated , loving, caring and had so much patience! My son really loved to go to kids club and enjoyed every day spending time there!

This was our first time at the resort and we've loved it so far. Beach is very nice, the staff very professional and friendly. We really enjoyed the Cuban day, the roasted pork was delicious. Special mention to Miguel, Patricia, Adriana, Magdeline, Solangel and the Dj's Danilo and Daniel. This place is truly unique in Holguin province. We're coming back next year!

Our vacation was awesome. We opted for the adult only section and it was well worth the extra expense. Shout out to our favorite server at the Elite Restaurant, Arianny Garcia Ramirez who was such a delight! All the servers and staff were excellent. The beach is absolutely beautiful and the resort is equally inviting.

an excellent hotel, to go with the family, I hope to return in the future, quality service, but what I liked most was the entertainment team, highlighting Adriana, an excellent person and worker, I hope to continue visiting the hotel and recommend them, we see you on my next vacation

Great hotel and service. Enjoy the day trips with Robert and Ani. We did a day trip to the natural pools. Nice walk / hike, very knowledgeable guide . Something to look forward when here at the resort! Free day trips , but please be toughtful and thank your guides . Other options for day trips available, like cave visit, farms etc Fun activities and nice bike ride .

I was there the end of march and our trip was incredible. The rooms were clean the beach was amazing and the food was perfect for me. The best part was the entertainment staff especially Cesar who made our experience very memorable!!! We are definitely returning
