I booked two rooms at this hotel for an 11-night stay, spending a total of $4,252.22 AUD based on Trip.com's recommendation and their claim that this was a 5-star property. Unfortunately, my experience could not have been further from what I’d expect at this rating. Upon arrival, check-in was supposed to be at 2:00 pm, but by 5:30 pm, I was still unable to access my room. The front desk staff explained there were no rooms available yet, leaving me waiting in the lobby for half an hour, watching as other guests checked in without issue. This lack of organization and disregard for guests was just the beginning.
Despite the non-smoking policy promised by both the hotel and Trip.com, the entire hotel reeked of smoke. The smell permeated every area—from the lobby to the hallways, and especially the rooms. Worse yet, my room had a gap connecting to the next room, which allowed not only smoke but also noise to spill into my space constantly. Privacy was impossible, and the unpleasant odor made the room nearly uninhabitable.
Cleanliness was another major concern. The rooms were dirty, with visible stains and dust everywhere, making it clear that housekeeping was either rushed or neglected altogether. I couldn’t believe the level of filth, especially given the cost of the stay and the supposed 5-star rating.
The experience in the lobby was no better. At night, it transformed into an uncomfortable environment, with *********** and their agents approaching guests with inappropriate offers. I was repeatedly asked if I wanted “services,” making the lobby feel unsafe and unsettling. Adding to my discomfort, the room’s plumbing was unreliable, with my toilet clogging on the first night. Thankfully, this issue was addressed quickly, but the room’s door lock became another constant hassle. After calling maintenance twice, I was locked out of my room at midnight, forced to wait in the lobby until they managed to fix it.
The lobby staff exhibited a rude and dismissive attitude, further diminishing any semblance of a luxury experience. The hotel’s location compounded my frustration; it was inconveniently located with no attractions or necessities nearby, and to add insult to injury, they charged for exiting through the front gate. This meant that every time I called a taxi, I had to leave through the back gate, lengthening each trip unnecessarily. Inside the hotel, a KTV lounge operated with “bar-girl” services, an inappropriate and unwelcome feature in a supposed 5-star establishment.
Despite all these issues, the hotel staff had no meaningful response. It was only upon my check-out, when I contacted Trip.com, that I received any acknowledgment. Their apology was accompanied by a so-called gift: a tea cup, a gesture that felt inadequate and dismissive. This experience was deeply disappointing, and I would caution anyone considering a stay here to look elsewhere for accommodations more deserving of their time and money.
