I recently stayed at Guangzhou Mido Homestay and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the view from my room was absolutely stunning. I could see the river and a large part of the district, which was truly captivating. Additionally, the room's furniture was modern and well-maintained, adding to the overall comfort.
However, there were several issues that impacted my stay. Firstly, no key fob was provided for entry downstairs, and the security guard wasn't always available to open the gate. After waiting for a while, I learned a trick from delivery people to get in.
The check-in process was also disappointing. Despite arriving at 3:45 PM, well after the supposed 2 PM check-in time, there was no one at the front desk. I ended up waiting 40 minutes because my room wasn't ready, and there was another guest waiting before me.
Once I finally checked in, I noticed there were no towels in the room. When I requested them, they brought only one towel and a disposable hand towel that was paper-thin and barely absorbed any water.
In terms of location, the hotel is a bit far from the metro station, which might be inconvenient for some travelers. However, there is a bus stop nearby that provides a convenient alternative for getting around.
Lastly, the AC remote had a malfunction due to a bad battery connection, requiring constant adjustments to use it.
Overall, while the hotel offers great views and modern furnishings, improvements in service and amenities are needed to enhance the guest experience.
