Lavande Hotel (Guangzhou Tianhe Zhengjia Square)

Very close to the nice malls in Guangzhou with some good local street food eats right below. Rooms are a bit tight but very clean.

Pros: very good location, centrally located. Place is clean and bright. Room is beautiful and large size. I was upgraded to a room with windows. Thank you... I guess. Cons: 1. language. I speak both Cantonese and English, not Mandarin. I thought in a place like Guangzhou at least the service industry including the hotel workers speak Cantonese. However that was not the case. No workers including the front desk staff speaks Cantonese, and not even very basic English. Very disappointed. 2. Breakfast was standard. It was good enough. 3. Not sure if room service was part of the hotel. Day after first check in they briefly made the bed and change towels. Did not change out cups, did not replace tea bags, did not replace the 1/4 left toilet paper or leave a new one there. I asked the next day and after some interesting communication efforts they did give me toilet paper and tea bags next day. But this time missing towels and still did not replace the used cups. 4. No coffee in room nor in the lobby. That was my expectations but I suppose coffee is not as popular there. 5. The lock for the windows did not work. Normally I would be ok because I was on second floor, however a workable lock will make me feel more safe. In one of the nights they were doing road work outside until 10pm. The window lock did not work so it wouldn't stay shut. I will look around next time before choosing the same hotel again.

Nice location and stuff very helpful ,but the rooms too small even the king size , no refrigerator on rooms
