This hotel is currently CLOSED. Apparently all bookings have been transferred but we were not told. We waited for over an hour on the doorstep knocking (there's nothing on the doors to say it's closed and a light was on) and trying to phone for help (but the hotel's phone line has been cut off) until eventually a man happened to turn up and tell us to "try The Dolphin". They did have our booking but it's only by chance we knew where to go!

Booking for me and my partner for his birthday......Wait for nearly 2 hour for check in as couldn't find our booking but the guy was only started four days in working and was helping as best he could finally got a room but had to move as we had problems and then we had to move again from the next room as there was problems again with TV and bath and shower.... we was about to go elsewhere but finally we got a ok room that they seem to not let out which is a shame as have a nice sea view

Building is dated along with the furniture but all's ties in together and is a very pretty building inside. May need some TLC but wasn't any issues for us!! Had a sea view room and was great! Staff very helpful, towels and bedding was extremely clean! Looking forward to returning!

Very disappointing stay. Firstly there was no hot water in the shower, we tried at both 5.30pm and again at 7.30am. The TV didn't work at all. My child cut her foot on a staple that was sticking out of the bed base. We got into bed at 10.30pm to discover large blood patches visible through the sheet! It was very late, so I just pulled the mattress protector off. Fortunately the mattress looked very clean, so we just replaced the sheet but were pretty disgusted. Breakfast is extremely basic. Just a bowl of Weetabix or packs of 'fruit and fibre' or a few cornflakes in a tub, no bread, fruit or yoghurt. You get a few slices of toast when you order tea or coffee. Cooked breakfast was better but the sausages were awful, definitely didn't taste like pork, they were very odd. There was nobody on reception in the morning to address any of this issues, so we just left the key as others had done. On the bright side, the staff seemed friendly enough.

I wouldn't stay for free again, room 215, oh dear, bed was like a slab, floor was so creaky and sloping it was disturbing, tea tray was covered in tea stains, sugar in tea tray covered in tea stains, got one tea spoon, 1 table spoon? Why? 1 random wine glass on dusty sideboard? Tried to pick it up and was stuck, clearly cleaning here isn't top of the agenda, the tv was the size of an iPad, literally inadequate, very dated, in the 70's, honestly I've paid far less for clean accommodation, I would not recommend this, may be the 1 room, I don't know, but that was once and only for me...

Check in was pleasant rooms are very dated but clean we had an issue with a toilet being broken we were moved to another room but it was very small and hot so we went back to the original room and the toilet was fixed staff were friendly the hotel allows dogs we didn’t no this else We would have taken our frenchie breakfast is very nice beds were a small double so not much room but all in all for the price it was basic but ok if you want a five star book one but don’t book this if you want luxury i would stay again in a larger room as im disabled and need more room

Great value seaview hotel - much better than some reviews would have you fear. Friendly staff, good breakfast, building full of character and historic interest. Room - by normal standards - clean, leaving no grounds to complain. Very much enjoyed my stay.

This hotel is awful. Dated. Dirty. Needs a complete overhaul. Very old fixtures and fittings and a dirty old shower. Not disabled friendly at all. No accessible toilets in public places. Just not a place you want to spend any time in at all. Such a shame as it's position on the sea front is good.

Booked the day before, arrived on Saturday to check in but no room for us and no sign of the reservation. Staff preceeded to argue amongst theirselves. Only one triple room left, dull, dirty, old fashioned, would have rather slept on the beach it was that bad.
