Hotel in zona DXL Big + Tall, Grand Rapids

When I arrived to check in, I was told that my reservation had been changed to double Queen instead of the king suite I had wanted. The receptionist at the front was apologetic and offered a discount. I am rating this poor because I would have appreciated a phone call previous to this change. That would have given me the opportunity to cancel and find a different place. Also, when I asked to speak to the manager that told the receptionist to make the change, the manager didn’t work in the weekend. I took the discount and the room. Luckily, I am only spending one night. This is just a place to rest my head for tonight. I will remember this experience and not book a room through this hotel again. Obviously, reservations do not matter.

Suggerisco di dare ai vostri dipendenti la responsabilità se siete involontari o troppo lenti per soddisfare le esigenze dei vostri clienti. Quando ho contestato, ha detto che avrebbe cambiato il piano verso il secondo piano. Quando le ho raccontato le questioni di mobilità, finalmente mi ha trovato una stanza sul primo piano. In passato, per le partite precoce, alcuni articoli sul buffet per colazione gratis erano sempre stati creati presto. Non c'era nulla, non c'era nulla, non c'era nulla che non fosse stato fatto a nessuna delle stanze per quanto riguarda l'aggiornamento, la decorazione è triste e vecchia con lo stesso tappeto e le stesse sedie marroni che ci sono stati per anni. Sarebbe bene se il posto fosse pulito, ma immediatamente ho trovato un grosso insetto volante sotto il bagno, chiaramente vista dalla porta del bagno, e infine, le matite non sono di supporto e devono essere cambiate. Gli ho detto che non mi sarei mai più fermato, ma mi dispiaceva di aver pagato la mia prenotazione e di aver dovuto soffrire l'ultima volta.

Ho controllato in tardi la notte che’’ probabilmente sono stato organizzato alla stanza più giusta su 2F. L’ascensore è lontano dal desk front has walked 3 to 4 mins with my two big heavy baggage. Good workout but not so good for checking in late night.

My spouse and I live only about 3 miles away from this hotel and were forced to spend a night here in December 2021 after a windstorm knocked out our power for a lengthy period of time. We drive by this hotel often, and I thought it was kinda fun to stay here and see what the interior was like. The circumstances that required us to stay here were not fun, but overall, we were fairly pleased with the hotel. We checked in sometime around 6:30 or 7 p.m. on a Thursday night. Our check-in process went relatively smoothly, and we used my husband's IHG reward points for our stay. Our room (#254) was clean and comfortable... no problems there. After we got settled into the hotel, we had a tasty dinner and a couple of alcoholic beverages at the bar. Kind of expensive, but whatever. This hotel has an indoor pool and fitness center... neither of which we used. Unfortunately, the indoor pool did not have a hot tub which we would have enjoyed. I can't speak to the breakfast options because we ended up eating breakfast elsewhere. One thing I was sort of disappointed about was the fact that this hotel did not have a business center with computers for guests to use. I would have appreciated a business center to surf the Internet, but one was not available. The only other thing I have to say about this hotel is that the bathroom setup in our room was a bit unusual... no problems with it; it was just different. The shower is in a tucked-away corner in the bathroom with no curtain or anything. I didn't have a problem with it; it was just interesting and different. Hopefully we won't have any other significant power outages that will require us to stay at a local hotel, but if it does happens again, we would have no qualms about staying here again.

My dad and I had been coming from Wind Lake, WI on a 5 day road trip. When we arrived there at around 7:20 pm, our rooms weren’t even cleaned yet because the housekeepers didn’t show up at all. There were 2 women working and they were VERY disorganized. After several minutes there was this African American woman who asked what my name was and asked me a few other questions that I don’t remember. Even though I was being polite, she gave me an attitude and thought I had an attitude or something. I think she was rude/crabby because the maid didn’t show up for work that day. I remember at one point in that conversation when we were sitting in the lobby she said “Ooh, I don’t think we can get you a room” in a real sarcastic kind of voice which was uncalled for but I ignored it. We waited over 40 minutes and had to keep asking for updates as nobody even bothered to automatically come over and bother to apologize or keep us informed. This part was not the hotel's fault but my dad had informed me that the Lake Express ferry ride back home from Muskegon, MI to Milwaukee, WI was booked for both of the day shifts tomorrow. This along with the rooms not even being ready got me so upset that I had to go outside the hotel to calm down in the nice roofed patio area from crying heavily. I do wish to say though the hotel’s lobby was beautiful and clean looking with a nice big flower in a vase on a coffee table. After a while the same woman came out and apologized if she sounded crabby/mean - we learned she had been there since 5 am because they were short staffed. I forgave her and from that point on she became nicer and more helpful. I explained I was also upset because of the ferry situation and she understood. Still though, our rooms after about 40 mins were not clean so we decided to come back later and eat downtown before the restaurant closed at 9 pm. By the time we got there it was about quarter to 9 pm. That restaurant stopped serving food at 8 pm. This also was not the hotel's fault but the restaurant worker’s for not being more detailed about when the kitchen was closed. We were trying to find Rumors nightclub as well and the dance floor did not open until 10 so at around 9:30 we left downtown. It was late getting back to the hotel because there was a traffic accident on the road and it was very busy. When we finally came back to the hotel at 10:27 pm, I still could not check in because I had to transfer funds to my credit card from my savings account but that only took less than 5 minutes. I could not check in until around 11:12 pm because their computer systems were having issues from last night’s storm. For some reason my dad got checked in right away, probably because he didn’t make a reservation through a third party service like I did. The nice thing was that I was told I could use the pool as long as I wanted to as long as I was quiet but since I had so much luggage organization to do I had no time. I can confirm from a previous review mention
