Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia

I’ve had this hotel in my radar for a while, it looked classy and elegant. Wanting to escape the dire British summer we booked a quick week here, and I’m happy to report it was as good as I’d hoped. We just had a lead in room on the ground floor which was perfect for our needs (we looked at the upgrades available and didn’t think they were worth the extra). The hotel is spotless, the staff professional and friendly. Food terrific, even bbq night (I hate buffets so was surprised to find that I enjoyed what was on offer! Btw we had lobster one night - heavenly). The clientele is of the mature variety, we are both 60 and felt ‘young’! There’s lots of places to eat nearby, and supermarkets too. If you’re planning a hotel only stay, enjoy great food, don’t mind the rather cheek by jowl pool side, this hotel ticks all your boxes.

Spent two wonderful weeks at this hotel as a return guest. The hotel is exceptional, service levels are very high, food away delicious each night and the pool lovely. I did aqua aerobics one day in the spa pool which was enjoyable but I mostly did nothing but relax.

Our first visit to the Grand and was most enjoyable. Excellent service from all staff, restaurants ,reception, poolside and housekeepers,,,,all very professional and attentive. Rooms are comfortable and classic in style. During our stay the vast majority of guests were a mature age group, even elderly in many cases with mostly German and British guests and a smattering of other nationalities. Breakfast was good and dinner top quality, dinner courses were small but tasty and well presented. Twice a week a buffet barbeque is available for dinner which we preferred as there were more options to try and delicious desserts a plenty! We particularly liked the tranquil peaceful vibe around the place helped by a no mobile phone policy in the main restaurant, pool area etc which was mostly observed and respected by vast majority of guests apart from the odd entitled pompous individuals who felt the rules didn't apply to them and they could do whatever they wanted. We did witness on a few occasions rude and entitled behaviour from several guests toward the service staff at the hotel, many guests that stay here are clearly well heeled and wealthy but act with a lack of respect and some showed little courtesy toward the people that were trying so hard to look after them,I found quite a few guests to be aloof and delusions of grandeur sprang to mind. Overall a great choice for luxury stay in Gran Canaria, highly recommended.

Wonderful hotel which exceeds expectations. Excellent facilities,food,staff and a thoroughly delightful place to stay. You’d struggle to talk to a guest who hasn’t stayed at the hotel before. Our 3rd visit and we look forward to our 4th!

Great place to relax but you need to be up early to bag your preferred lounger. We went half-board which was worth it. Stayed in room 127 which was on the ground floor. May go for a terraced one next time. Wine was typically 40 to 60 euros a bottle but it went up to 850 euros. For lunch we went for a "generous" glass of Vina Sol at 10 euros although I think if you need to consider what you are spending it may not be the place to come - we soon got over that :-) Not a place to bring children but if you are retired and comfortably off a fantastic place to chill out. Service was faultless.

The Grand Hotel Residencia, part of the Seaside Collection, is the most civilised, serene and comfortable place to stay on Gran Canaria. Being able to have a high chance of 20+ degrees Celsius only 4 hours flight from Heathrow in December is a powerful draw, but knowing that you will receive exceptional service from a team most of whom have worked at the Grand Hotel for very many years, is what makes the difference. Add to that two heated pools, excellent food, quiet atmosphere and great location - very near to the sea in Meloneras (the best part of Maspalomas), it’s unsurprising we’ve stayed a number of times. If you want to be left in peace to relax, this is hard to beat anywhere and can’t be beaten on this warm and friendly island.

just returned from 11 days at the hotel, 6th time in two years. as always the holiday was exceptional, This hotel is the finest we have ever visited. the food is cordon blue, the staff are extremely friendly and efficient, the pool area is beautiful with lovely comfortable sun beds and kept in wonderful condition by a team of hard working attendants. the rooms are spacious, comfortable, beautifully furnished and kept in pristine condition by the lovely team of cleaning ladies. There is a spa and gym with all of the facilities you would expect. There is a lovely welcoming reception area and Terrace which provide a relaxing place to read or write or escape for a while from the sun, again beautifully furnished . There is a really nice pool bar providing really good food with a good drinks menu. In the evening the high class restaurant provides superb food and drinks either on the terrace or in the beautiful restaurant. We cant wait to go back, already booked for this years Xmas and New Year.

Small (about 100 rooms), intimate, peaceful, tranquil, beautiful and totally reliable. Outstanding staff who will go well beyond the extra mile in service. As I picked up my cup for afternoon tea on Friday the gentleman in front had been returning for 22 years and the man behind for 18. We have been, probably, over 30 times in the last 20 or so years. We have known many of the staff for that long too. It is just such a dependable oasis. Luxury, comfort, great food. Quiet, understated elegance. Come here to relax, unwind and be pampered.

Having had the pleasure in visiting the hotel since 2016 at several occasions, the is little or nothing to complain about. In fact, in the last 2 years, we have had the privilege of staying in several 5* hotels, but none of them, have provided us with the level of satisfaction we enjoyed @ the SGHR. For sure, the SGHR is requiring a somewhat higher budget, but the return on investment is simply not comparable. Although the hotel is at the age of 24 years ( if I am not mistaken), it appears like a lady that has matured with the best care one could imagine. Even with a close look, it is difficult to discover any issue of insufficient maintenance. Maintenance is far beyond a 5*. And for the staff, we have met this year some staff that has been there for many years, while also the new staff, are showing that first of all, they have been well selected and trained, because all deliver the same high level of dedication to deliver outstanding service. I know from other resorts, how difficult it is to find new staff, but the SGHR apparently succeeds in finding the best. No real need to endeavor to elaborate related to the quality of the food. From the breakfast to the pool bar lunch area, the superbe dinner selection, the twice a week marvelous BBQ, the quality and selection is fully in line with the overall SGHR experience. My advice to hesitaters: give it a try and you will want to return over and over again. Our deepest appreciation for the entire team, which all of the, contribute to our amazing experience.
