We have been there by recommendation, but have been disappointed. The place itself is beautiful, but it has absolutely seen better years and needs a little more attention and maintenance here and there. The service in the Restaurant is really bad. No second cup of coffee, on one paid real attention to the guests and the overall athmosphere was strange. The women at the reception were a great exception - friendly and cheerful. The room we had needed also some maintenance. The Wifi was also very slow, not useable. We would not recommend the Hotel at the moment.

Something has changed at the Drostdy; it has lost some of its magic. I booked 3 rooms here for my mother in law's birthday, each under a different guest name, and for some reason this caused a huge amount of consternation in the lead up to the trip, with multiple staff members reaching out to me to check and recheck that i was still planning on arriving, even after i had specifically called to say i was. It made me nervous that when we all arrived the rooms would no longer exist, although thankfully that did not happen. Service was very slow, particularly at lunch. And then when we checked out they forgot to bill us for some things that had been charged to the room, meaning that they then had to send separate payment links for me to pay after I arrived home. The hotel itself retains all its charm; but the operation is not as polished as it used to be.

a delightful sojourn in Graaff Reinet made even more enjoyable by staying at the wonderful Drosty Hotel..Scrumptious food,super comfortable rooms and staff that go the extra mile..I can highly recommend it.

We stayed overnight on our way to the coast. We loved the historic buildings that had been so beautifully restored. All the staff were friendly and competent. It is a special joy to know that an opportunity is being offered for young people to gain experience and training in the hospitality industry. We also appreciate the fact that young families are accommodated and that pets are welcomed.

Our experience at the restaurant for Sunday lunch was very disappointing. Very poor badly prepared food. The staff were willing but poorly trained. Avoid meals here. Very much a steakhouse menu. I am so sad as I have had amazing meals here. Half way through lunch the staff started pushing tables and chairs around making a noise. We had to go to the kitchen to get our plates removed when finished eating. A total lack of management. The lawns in the garden had not been mown.

If you are looking for a wonderful experience, outstanding service, great food and consistently friendly and helpful staff, then look no further than the Drostdy Hotel. From the start, as we entered the property, we were met with a friendly smile and a 'how can I help' attitude, which remained consistent no matter which staff we interacted with. The room was most comfortable and well equipped, and the arrival drink was particularly welcome in the frosty weather. The food and service in the restaurant, both at dinner and breakfast, was of a high standard. Our stay was certainly the highlight of our trip and memorable for all the right reasons.

Our stay was exceptional. The staff were friendly, and the room was beyond comfortable. This hotel with all the amenities, deserves a 5-star rating.
