Everything was outstanding. Hosts Luc and Herman run a very relaxing inn and have thought of anything you could possible need. Breakfasts included the most delicious fresh pastries, cooked to order eggs, and a wide variety of coffee selections all served on the outdoor patio. The best part of our stay had to be our daily adventures. They really know the region and suggested some amazing driving routes through this less-traveled region. Thanks again!! -Steve & Sharon

The best Bed & Breakfast I have been to and I have travelled a lot! Better than a hotel. The breakfast is homemade with fresh ingredients and everything is super clean and tidy. The property and surroundings are breath-taking! I must for next visit. Highly recommended!

Casa Carvalhal is a paradise in the middle of Portugal. A beautiful location in the lovely village of Góis with nice restaurants where you can eat very well and at favourable prices. Góis is a good base for various hikes and trips and is about 40 minutes from Coimbra. The accommodation is really lovely, nice spacious rooms with lots of facilities. Everything is equipped down to the last detail. Rooms are very clean and are cleaned every day. It is wonderfully quiet on the outskirts of Góis within walking distance of the centre and restaurants. Breakfast is delicious, featuring homemade products and Portuguese delicacies. And then there is the beautiful heated pool to splash in at the end of the day. The owners, Herman and Luc, have rewritten the book on hospitality and you can tell they put their heart and soul into the B&B. They are very helpful and hospitable. They are also masters at suggesting activities you can do in the area. As a guest, you really feel like a GUEST, with capital letters.

Casa Carvalhal is a hidden gem in the Central Portuguese mountains. The property is impeccable in every sense - the attention to detail and quality is evident everywhere. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean with a very nice outdoor seating area with views of the surrounding mountains just outside your room. The breakfasts were among the best we've had in our travels. Home made yogurt and jam is a wonderful touch. Great omelettes and morning cappuccino with abundant baked goods and bread with cheeses and meats will keep you going all day. We appreciated the morning travel briefings with Luc with all the detail you need to explore the area. The hosts Herman and Luc are warm and their love and passion for Casa Carvalhal shows in every detail. A great place for a home base to explore Central Portugal.

This is our third stay since 2016 at Casa Carvalhal - but since 2018 Herman & Luc have taken Casa Carvalhal to another level - we would award 6* if we could! Spacious & very comfortable rooms with every amenity, fridges for guests, a water dispenser where you can refill your metal travel water bottle - given as a gift :-)) , in order to avoid unnecessary plastic, a private heated swimming pool in a beautiful garden, together with secure, gated parking. Breakfast (included) is another highlight you must not miss - home made jams, yoghurts & fruit, fresh bread baked daily, together with cooked eggs, local cheeses & charcuterie sets you up perfectly for a day exploring Gois and the beautiful surrounding countryside. There is no better place to stay in Gois!

We had a fantastic stay with Herman and Luc. You feel very welcoming and at home. We were pampered in many ways. We got a nice a spacious room, our own sun beds and direct access to the pool through the garden. The premises are beautiful with a very nice layout. Everything looks so nice and clean. Beautiful garden. The breakfast was as vast, fresh and delicious where you can only dream about. They make the best coffee! Have lots of tips and ideas what to do (on a rainy day). Whatever you asked it was never a problem. Herman and Luc know how to run a B&B. We have a new standard for our next stay in another B&B…. (which will not be easy to equal) 😉 We’ll love to come back when the sun is out!

An amazing place to stay in a beautiful area in central Portugal. I'm not usually a bed and breakfast/hotel type person preferring self catering if possible but this exceeded all my expectations. Herman and Luc were so welcoming and helpful and the passion they have for their property is abundantly evident. Every part of the place is spotlessly clean and well maintained ( all done by just themselves) and attention to detail is obvious. Our room on the ground floor was huge with a lovely outdoor seating area looking out over the gorgeous well kept gardens and the mountains. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom well appointed . Breakfasts were a delight with many home made products and very good coffee. Doggy bags were offered so you could take a snack for lunchtime...much appreciated. My husband and I can't fault the place and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay. And we would love to go back!

Thank you for a wonderful visit to your beautiful place . The breakfasts and attention to detail are superb. Herman and Luc do everything they can to make your visit perfect. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and the beds are perfect. My husband loved the heated swimming pool . A wonderful place to explore this amazing location.

A localização é fabulosa para quem deseja sossego, luxo, privacidade e quem gosta de acordar com uma vista fabulosa no meio da serra. Quartos incríveis, adoramos a cama e as almofadas, verdadeira sensação de conforto. Os anfitriões são super atenciosos, tudo está devidamente pensado para uma estadia fantástica. Desde o mais pequeno pormenor, como as toalhas de piscina,máquina de café no quarto, frigorífico almofadas para cada cadeira, códigos de entrada para a nossa maior segurança e privacidade... Desde a nossa chegada até á saída só temos coisas positivas a falar. Não esquecendo a piscina aquecida, e o fabuloso pequeno almoço. Foi uma estadia fantástica e a repetir um dia. A qualidade é de nota .
