Delta Hotels Cheltenham Chase

Nice Hotel, abit far away from Gloucester town centre but there is a Bus Stop right outside the Hotel that takes you there. Decent Breakfast and Good Menu Selection in the Bar/Restaurant. I would stay again. Bar area could maybe do with more staff during peak periods possibly.

Hotel is modern and clean. Rooms very spacious and comfortable quality bedding. Large bed. Shower and bathroom clean and modern. Nice touch with bottle water and hospitality tray. Breakfast was TERRIBLE. Food run out, waiting lengthy time for restock, tables dirty, poor selection of tea, milk (non dairy) and breads. Continental platter was ham and cheese- embarrassing! No eggs for 20 mins. Plates burning hot, sausages. Really cheap and didn’t even taste like sausage! Worst breakfast ever eaten in a hotel. Shame as the rest of hotel was good in every way.

staff were great and friendly only drawback was a constant dripping shower head but great place, and I will stop again next time I am down.

Great stay in pleasantly/conveniently situated hotel. The leisure suite was brilliant except hot tub was only lukewarm on last day - no extra charge for this so we used 4 times on our 2 night break. Breakfast excellent and had one bar meal in hotel which was good. There is a Toby Carvery which is within easy walking distance as an alternative. Plenty of comfortable areas to sit and have free coffee around the bar/reception area.

Second time staying with my daughter. Twin was was good size. I did request no interconnecting door as last time it was very noisy from connecting door. Bathroom clean, not very eco friendly doing individual bars of soap so you can wash your hands. A bottle would last long and not need a whole new bar for each guest change. We were only there one night. Slept ok. Average sleep. Room was dark which helped. Unfortunately the breakfast experience is where it all went wrong, arrived just after 9am to be told the hot lamps weren’t working for self service buffet, told to place an order with lady at the hot counter. This should have been simply but hotel has no table numbers, no numbers to hand out to guests, no way of tracking who placed what order at what time. Poor Saturday girl was left in tears as she was left to fend off a constant stream of guests complaining where is there food, long delays. Food was coming out but no one know who it was for. Plates being carried around getting cold going from table to table. People obviously were leaving as they were giving up waiting. No bowls for cereal for 40 mins, pastries had run out just after 9 and not replenished, no bowls for the yogurt. After 50 mins myself and my daughter had an odd Mis-match of breakfast that we could get together. Finally got a small bit of hot food. No offer of compensation when leaving, just told they know it was a shambles. Hotel manager should have been present supporting their staff.

Some issues with cleanliness unfortunately. In our room there were two large clumps of blue tack on the wall above the bed where guests had probably put a banner. The mini-fridge had clearly not been cleaned as it housed an opened bottle of wine. At breakfast we had to swap a chair that was covered in food debris and there was a chip on the carpet which was obviously left from a meal consumed the day before. Breakfast itself was not great. The hot food was under such strong heat above, (almost like a grill) it dried out the food on the trays beneath so the fried eggs were like rubber , the mushrooms all dried out at the tops and the bacon rashers were welded together so in trying to pick up one rasher you ended up with about six or seven in one huge piece. Some (not all) of the tomatoes were completely blackened on the top. Having said that I asked for a poached egg and this was cooked to order and was perfect. Our room was adequate and the bathroom was very clean. The pool was good and a decent temperature.. Jacuzzi was lovely but the timer was set to be off for 10-15minutes after a very short spell of it being on. We were told that there was a fault with it and they were waiting for an engineer so this could well be rectified now. Location: was a bit more out of town than we thought but ok with a car. Hotel seemed understaffed, hence the issues we encountered. However all staff were lovely. An OK stay just not quite the Marriott we experience we expected.

Problems nationwide with computers meant a long wait for a room allocation. Staff dealt with this situation in a friendly and helpful manner and found a resolution as computers remained off all evening. Lovely room, food really good and staff very helpful at all times. Relaxed atmosphere and really good, clean swimming pool.

Unfortunately we could not use the main dining room because there were two tour groups. Claire (?) at the front desk when she told of this conflict did not suggest the bar as an option but suggested to go into the city someplace. Later I asked if the bar was open and she said yes.
