The location and room are acceptable, and the bed is comfortable. The staff is very friendly. However, there are a few issues. The TV is quite slow, and the remote takes about five seconds to respond when a button is pressed. It is frustrating to turn off the TV, as nothing would happen immediately. You'd push the off button again, only for the TV to switch off and back on after a few seconds. Changing channels is similarly sluggish. The main reason for my review is the Wi-Fi situation. I strongly advise against using Premier Inn if you plan to do any work during your stay. The free Wi-Fi offers a measly 1 Mbps download speed. If you attempt to work with that speed, what should take 10 minutes will turn into a 30-minute ordeal, as you'll be waiting after every click. For example, when you click on an email attachment, you might as well go make a cup of tea because it will likely take that long to download. If you opt to pay £5, you can get an 8 Mbps download speed for 24 hours, which should be usable on three devices. However, if you purchase the Wi-Fi on your phone and then try to log in on your laptop, the landing page doesn't show the 'Already signed up? Login' option. This option only appears on the mobile landing page, meaning you must pay again to access Wi-Fi on your laptop. All Premier Inn hotels seem to have this frustrating system in place.
