Was sad to check out and leave today after a very nice stay. My room really grew on me and felt so homely, I didn’t want to leave. As with many places I’ve stayed throughout the Pacific, it’s the people (owners and staff) that really make a place. And as others have stated, Jordie is absolutely lovely and her friendly smile and help with arranging transport etc. really makes a difference, and Ivan is a great guy too. They really take an interest in their guests and their travels and making their stay enjoyable. My room was upstairs and had a lovely balcony with table and chairs and a glimpses of a sea view through the trees (if one of the boys could just trim the tops off those trees it would be a great view!), and all the amenities I needed - air conditioning (crucial) and fan, very good Wi-Fi (most grateful), small fridge, own bathroom, surprisingly good lighting - and a kettle that worked - and tea bags and sugar (but no milk / creamer / milk powder so I didn’t use, though I never asked - and the local stores sell UHT milk and creamer). The room itself also had a double and a single bed, with pretty new mattresses (yes I looked!) and perfectly comfortable… as well as 3 comfortable chairs and a good size coffee table (perfect as I made simple meals in my room given there’s not many eateries in Gizo) The sink has only a cold tap and the hot water for the shower is out at the moment but honestly you’re so hot when you get back to your room that a tepid shower is all you want - I probably wouldn’t have used hot water even if it was working. Anyway they’re working on getting it fixed… maintenance is never easy in such places. (Travellers new to the Pacific should bear that in mind - also that basic utilities in these places like running water, Wi-Fi, and especially electricity, cost more than in our own countries - the bulk of our room rate goes on electricity, not to the owners, so please be thoughtful and switch everything off, especially the a/c, when going out for the day). And as others have mentioned the whole place is clean and tidy, not just the rooms. In fact the sliding windows in my room were so clean, when I first entered I thought they were open. My windows at home are never that clean! And the sea is right there - they must clean them between every guest! Would definitely stay again if back in Gizo for more diving (oh yeah - it’s probably the closest accommodation to Dive Gizo - just 7-8 minutes walk, and just around the corner from the BSP bank with two ATMs, and plenty of shops nearby for supplies.
