Kalipay Resort Siargao

Great hotel and even better staff. Ideally located between the beach / bridge and town.

what happened to us at this hotel is terrible! instead of enjoying but sadness happened! we left the hotel to go on a land tour, we left the money in our suitcase, housekeeping came in to clean our rooms. it took an hour. They were the last to enter the room, we asked them to review the cctv, but they denied it. housekeeping that's 1 hour hanging out at the hotel! The owner even covered up their staff. so it's not safe in the hotel. there was a thief, we wondered why housekeeping took an hour but in another room they only took 30 minutes. and they didn't change the bedings, they didn't fix the cleaning but it took an hour. We didn't see anyone else on the cctv when they came in last time. We went to the police and they made a blotter and their statement was different. The hotel is okay, clean and beautiful. but from their house keeping staff we know that they lied, their statements to the police were different

The issue I had here was with housekeeping. On the first day, they kept knocking, wanting to clean my room, and I eventually allowed them in even if I wanted to rest. On the second day, they disturbed me again while I was asleep early in the morning. I opened the door in my bath towel and told them to come back later, but they still insisted on entering to check the mini-fridge. This lack of respect for privacy was horrible and completely ruined my stay.

Couldn't fault Kalipay! The magic of the stay was in the details, from the distilled water cooler in the room to the bag to take island hopping to the choice of pillows. Despite being in a prime location in the centre of the action, the hotel is a little oasis of calm and the pool and garden are lovely. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and I felt safe and welcomed as a solo traveller. Would definitely recommend!

Kalipay was in the best location ever, yet also like a sanctuary of peace! It helped that there weren’t too many guests when we were there too (as we were just at the beginning of the season). The staff were absolutely lovely and helped us book all of our motorbikes, transfers & surf lessons. We had the reception number on WhatsApp so if our plans changed we could easily contact them to help us - honestly, it took all the faff out of the holiday and meant we could really enjoy ourselves. The room was gorgeous and so big for 2 people! Great shower, air con or a ceiling fan, super comfy bed (if you prefer a slightly harder memory foam feel) & complimentary drinking water and tea. There was also a mini fridge of snacks which you did need to pay extra for but we enjoyed this to have a sweet treat post dinner! There are great drink / dinner options within a 2 minute walk, or 5 minute motorbike ride. We would recommend CEV for amazing ceviche (we went twice) & Goodies did a great cocktail. We also ate breakfast and lunch at Kalipay once and enjoyed both meals. Thank you so much to the Kalipay team - we’d come back in a heartbeat! Emma & Ed

We stayed two weeks at this fabulous resort! Friendly and helpful staff, always with a smile! The room was neat and spacious, very quiet and with free water despenser and fridge. The garden and the pool area was lovely! The restaurant served delicious breakfast and also this staff(and owner) were very friendly and easy to talk to. The area is quiet and it is a short walk or ride to many nice restaurants. We travel a lot and this is one of the best small resorts we have ever stayed in!
