PAIN IN THE A$$! Oh... when you book this hostel through ***********, you’ll have to choose: 1. easy booking AND payment OR 2. Cheap place to stay Here is THE story about my struggle. I’m checking the web for a mid-price stay in Gdansk. I find one that looks OK: cheap, clean and not so far from the sea. I have to add my card when I book so they can draw the money. So I do! A day after the booking, I received an email from the hostel, that they didn’t receive any payment because my card was rejected. I double-check my card and just to be sure carefully enter another card of mine. Day after I receive an email saying that my card was rejected. Whaaat?! I double-check my card once again and enter another third card! Kind of cool, right. I don’t know what to think… Anyway, the day after I receive an email that… guess what? Yeah! MY CARD WAS REJECTED! And check-in day is in two days. Ok, in the email they’ve sent to me, they wanted me to make a bank transfer and pay MORE than *********** said it should cost. It’s about 52€ more… come on! Then I started to call the hostel first. They said that they can’t do anything… payment isn’t received and they will cancel my booking IF I’m not making a bank transfer and send them a confirmation in form of a pdf or screenshot from my bank. Check-in day is now TOMORROW! I also asked why they wanted 52€ more than ***********… HERE COMES THE SURPRISE! They have their own currency exchange rate! The second call was to my bank. Because I had to open an international transfer. At the same time, I asked why my card was declined. They said: Well, we had a request from a hotel in Poland but it was 0€! Yes, you read correctly! ZERO! I successfully paid this higher SUM to the Polish hostel and made a screenshot of the payment. Sent this screenshot to the hostel. Then I contacted *********** and they contacted the hostel… I was waiting online and in a couple of minutes, I got a response. The hostel said that they do NOT accept cards and I HAVE TO MAKE A BANK TRANSFER! Yeah! I’ve already done it! Then I called the hostel again asking them to check my email with confirmation… it took a loooong time for them to find my email… When they did find it, they said that this screenshot isn’t good enough… So, they have to actually see the money in their bank account! ***! Or, some another, REAL confirmation directly from my bank… Well, I call my bank again and get that confirmation on the payment from them. Calling the hostel… asking them to check out my email… it takes aaaages for them to find it! Come on, it was sent 2 minutes ago! Ok… it wasn’t enough for them! They will forward my email to another team who will decide if it is OK. In the evening of the same day, a day before check-in, the money wasn’t drawn… Now I’m REALLY NERVOUS! But, I got some air into my lungs… patience! I gave it I try until tomorrow morning. Chek-in date! The first thing I do when I wake up is to check if my money was drawn. YES! It was!
