Motel 6 Gatlinburg, TN - Smoky Mountains

Room 114, was filthy and smelled like dogs had been in there for months. The only light left on for us was the 1.5 inch gap on the bottom of the door letting cold air, sunlight, and rodents in. $157 for one night in a place where we felt like we needed to be vaccinated. No lie, we never walked on the floor without shoes and thank God we brought our own sheets and pillows.. NEGATIVE 1 star!

PETS ARE FREE!!!! And bears show up every night! And if you go in the right spot, you can see the Little Pigeon river below. And, it borders the GSMNP. Otherwise, this is very much a second-rate motel. Expect no frills, and much old and run-downess. But the beds are good. And did I mention, PETS ARE FREE!? Because of this, there are a lot of other pet lovers there, and pets make for good human social interaction. Therefore we stay there over and over with our dogs! If you don't travel with pets, you have little reason to stay here. If you do, then you have many good reasons to stay here, especially if you have an old dog that you need to carry, because the grassy area is at chest-level with a wall that you can walk up to and place your dog on the grass. Our old blind dog loves it!

You had me at pets stay free! However, upon check-in, I was disappointed. I stayed this past weekend in room 243. I understand it is a busy time of year, but to book someone into a room with only one hand towel. No wash clothes, bath towels, and a broken bathtub. You have to do better, especially charging customers over a hundred dollars a night. Customers should at least be able to shower. The room was not very clean either. Floor was sticky and dirty. I was disappointed, and to be honest, not comfortable. I checked asap the next day.

Location wise it is very convenient to downtown, but super sketchy with abandon buildings in the area (police questioning a person when we were arriving). Room floor & walls were filthy - we would not take our shoes off. HVAC smelt like filter has never been changed. The sheets on the bed, the vanity area & bathtub were clean and the only reason we stayed 1 night (we drove all day to get there and got there after hours). We canceled the other nights we had booked.

Good location to access the Gatlinburg trail with your dog. Within walking distance of downtown. Aldean at the front desk was very nice and helpful. Many coupon books are offered for food and attractions. Grassy area for pets with poop bags provided. Room had bare bone furnishings, good for pet owners. Didn't see a bear at the motel this time but there is a good chance you will.

Well let’s say Motel6 needs to remove the pictures on their website for this motel. 2 cockroaches were found in the room. One on the wall near the sink the other on the shower curtain. No pictures on the walls. Just the bare necessities. Employee was over worked looked extremely tired. Was not what we were expecting. Have contacted Motel6 regarding our visit just don’t want others to be fooled by the website.

Been staying at this motel for 10 years. It's cheaper and walking distance from the main drag. We deal with things not working and such because we understand what we are paying for. This trip, our room (122) was infested with ants. Found out at 1 am and it was so bad we had to go searching for a new hotel at 2 am which is not fun when there are few vacancies. We were already asleep and found ants crawling in our bed. The gentleman (in his early 20s) working the main office wouldn't take his eyes out of his phone even to make eye contact with us. He just mumbled, "Well, that sucks". We turned in our card keys to him and next day the manager said she would refund 3 of our 4 days back. Would take 7-10 days. Still waiting. She blamed us for having food in the minifridge (which was also infested) After we left the manager, I noticed they rented the room to someone else right away. Doubt they did anything to room. The ants were so bad it reminded me of a popsicle stick on the sidewalk with swarms of ants on it....except it was our room. Had suitcases open and everything. We will not be giving this motel our business anymore. Enough is enough. They do not care though, there are plenty of tourists flocking in everyday who are trying not to spend a lot of money. Our room was $133 per night. Got home on Monday, it was down to $49 a night. Still not worth it.

I rented two rooms here in February 2021. Everything was great, including the snowy creek view. Stayed again in January 2022, this time in a 2 queen with a private balcony with friends. Our room was ground level and the private outdoor space was a nice bonus. Views from this building are wooded, no creek view. Saw a bear in the parking lot late one night and met some nice people. No frills, nice staff, pet friendly and walking distance to the *****.

WELL...it's took me 20 mins to even figure out HOW to post this review!!! Ugh. Not today satan...not today! For my 50th birthday. I wanted to come to Gatlinburg. It has been years. I booked this trip over a month ago. My partner saw some bad reviews after and as i checked in he wanted to see the room first. We're POOR and he just wanted make sure the room was CLEAN. The room was perfect for us!! In a day and time where everyone is offended by EVERYTHING. I promised the lady i met at the frony desk that I WOULD write a review. Buckle up and come along. People have NO compassion for others in this world anymore!! LOVE ONE ANOTHER. That's what i wad taught! So your towels werent as soft as youd like!!?? Lol OK. So people looked DODGEY to YOU in the parking lot!!?? (Not the owners fault!!) THINK ABOUT what you post ONLINE. Its there forever!! THINK about someone coming from another country and TRY HER BEST to keep her head above water!!! You don't like her accent!!?? SHAME ON YOU! I saved 4 months for this trip! I chose MOTEL 6 because i KNEW i could afford it!! Is it the taij Mahal..... NO ITS MOTEL 6 !! Remember!!?? " leave the light on for ya!!??" My room was clean. My towels were good. My heater worked fine. The staff was very friendly to me!! Meet people where they are in life. Jesus taught me that! One bad review can DESTROY someone's reputation. I thank God for this lady in her struggles...where she is!! If your " standards" are to high....STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!! If your human and Love other humans stay where the owner will ALSO accept you where you are! I'm thankful for this trip. I've slept on the STREETS of downtown Asheville before. With a pillow made of trash. This place IS THE TAIJ MAHAL to ME. Show some grace And compassion. Jesus will leave the light on for ya!! God bless yall! TJ
