Maison Orsini

The host was very nice and welcoming but the “gite” was not very nice. The entrance into the gite was unkept and full of weeds and the interior smelled musty. Pillows were stained on the bed and the overall experience was not pleasant. Wanted to air out rooms but there were mosquitoes so couldn’t do that. There are other guest rooms that looked nice from the outside but I did not get to see.

My wife, my sister and I stayed for a week and could not have had a better experience. The room/suite was great, the courtyard and views were fabulous, and Falco, our host was the best. Breakfasts were the best we had in France. A gorgeous historic "castle" with amazing character and a great walkable location. The walk into Avignon proper center was our exercise program (one half hour each way)....so no fear of the patisseries. Maison Orsini and Villeneuve-les-Avignon was our favorite hotel and village that we visited on this three week trip (Bonnieux, Arles, and Aix were other locations we had the pleasure of seeing).

A gorgeous setting close to a dozen bars, restaurants and shops . Really perfect for a visit to Villenueve. A wonderful breakfast experience in the old building and a lovely hidden pool. Matched with superb service . We loved it and had a cottage to ourselves . We would go back tomorrow

Brilliant 4 night stay at the Maison Orsini’s truly special accommodations high above Avignon with stunning views of the Palais des Pâpes across the Rhone River and Mont Ventoux. Folco Pisani is the warm and generous host, whose fluent English was a gift. We learned that Folco’s grandfather bought this 15th century Cardinal Orsini’s Palace in 1947, which Folco’s family has both lived in and thoughtfully renovated over the decades since. There is a pool surrounded by an exquisite garden area across the street next to a private locked parking area. We stayed in the Suite Panoramique—a very large bedroom that easily accommodated a king sized bed, a desk, chair, and ample areas for luggage. The bath has a grand built-in tub with another large window. The suite also includes a side room with a desk and couch that can be closed off with a door if needed. All of the rooms we saw were lovely and well maintained. They surround a luscious courtyard with old trees shading another colorful garden of many floral varieties. There are tables and chairs that offer calming, yet breathtaking views. We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts in a dining room straight out of the middle ages. Folco brings freshly baked sweets daily from a local boulangerie like croissants and pastries, breads, various cheeses, yogurt, four or five bowls of freshly cut fruits and orange juice as well. He made the best American coffee of our two week trip in France! Villeneuve les Avignon is a 9 minute walk from Maison Orsini and includes a small but excellent choice of restaurants, and the fascinating and beautiful Saint-André Abby and award winning gardens which are well worth visiting. You can walk down to Bus #5 which takes you across the bridge to Avignon, where you can explore the historic sites and local restaurants and stores without struggling to park a car. But the best part of Maison Orsini is Folco’s attentiveness, kindness, and willingness to be helpful in every way possible. He created such a relaxing and comfortable environment that we chose to stay in Villeneuve for all of our dinners, several which Folco arranged, and an extra day that had been planned for side trips elsewhere. Could not recommend more highly!

We spent 3 nights at Maison Orsini and really enjoyed it. Several things about the inn were truly 5 star! First was Folco our host - he was so pleasant and helpful! He offered advice and even called for dinner reservations for us. We loved staying in Villeneuve-les-Avignon. It was peaceful and walkable with several nice restaurants for dinner. The view from the inn across the Rhone to the Papal Palace is truly spectacular. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace each morning for breakfast. We stayed in the 2 gites which while spacious were a bit dated and also didn't have a view. I didn't see the inside of the suites, but I think these may have been nicer and had pretty views too. The property is historic and charming, although sadly it has been neglected. The courtyard and pool area are lovely but overgrown with weeds. With just a little bit of TLC, the Maison Orsini could be really gorgeous again! I would still highly recommend because the B&B has so many positive things to offer.

There are 3 great things about Maison Orsini. Firstly the boutique B&B has historic charm and has been tastefully decorated in the rustic fashion. Yet every aspect of our room was absolutely bang on, aircon too. The second thing is that Folco is a caring and charming host, he gave restaurant recommendations for when their own restaurant was not open and even rang a restaurant for me. The third thing is it’s location, villeneuve les Avignon is the perfect place to stay. A 30 minute walk or 10 min by car or bus, this is the place to stay rather than Avignon itself. Lots of lovely restaurants and a smaller and picturesque place away from the bustle of the main town. Our favourite stop on a two week tour of France

This was a beautiful quaint spot. We had fabulous views. The bed was very comfortable. Folco the host was so helpful. Breakfast was very nice. We had parking but you can walk into both Avignon and Villeneuve Avignon easily. I would certainly recommend.

We stayed here for 5 days. The main building is over 600 years old, and is set on high ground overlooking the Rhone below, and Avignon in the middle distance. Indeed you can walk into Avignon in 30 mins, or into the centre of Villeneuve in under 10 mins. There is a terraced area where you can eat/drink giving the views of the river and Avignon. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast area was full of character with vaulted ceilings and a large fireplace. There is parking opposite behind a locked gate, and also a swimming pool in a secluded garden behind a second locked gate. As if all this wasn't enough, the chap who manages the accommodation, Folco, was helpful, friendly and charming, with excellent English. We wouldn't hesitate to return.
