Fancy and modernly styled hotel with funny details. Good facilities such as 2 pools (one by the sea and one on the adult only rooftop), 2 saunas, a fitness, a very good restaurant by the pool downstairs (with also great cocktails) and a nice sea acces! The breakfast is good with enough variety. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the centre of funchal and a 30 minute walk from the gondola to the Tropical and Botanic gardens. We were at the end of march so the hotel was not busy. The staff is super friendly!

A lovely modern hotel within about 15 mins walking distance of the centre of Funchal and the Lido area. The rooftop bar area was the highlight. The views were amazing! Perfect place to relax with a beer. The breakfast was great, and the food in the restaurant was great quality. The sea level pool area was also very chilled and relaxing, although the pool was a little chilly for December! My only criticism would be some of the staff weren’t particularly warm or welcoming. The check-in and check-out experience wasn’t great at all if I’m honest. A smile goes along way… That said it was a great hotel and would definitely consider NEXT again when returning to Funchal.

Very modern well appointment hotel , just up the road from the port . Sea views. With the comfiest beds. Convenient to many shops restaurants and bus stops . The staff were all very helpful , friendly and spoke perfect English .The rooms were cleaned and serviced daily to a high standard. We were bed and breakfast only so cant comment on the dinner restaurant but it was in an attractive , private setting, by the pool & sea. Breakfast was an excellent buffet - plenty of fresh fruit , bread & yoghurts . Also plenty & varied cooked items . We will return

Our “suite” was large with a separate seating & kitchen area with a nice balcony and nice size bathroom. However the lighting in the bedroom was so dim we had to use a torch to find things in this room. We were in a block separate to the main hotel and accessed via an outside bridge - this building also has the sea level pool and an all day restaurant & bar. I was concerned about the music from the bar but with the balcony doors closed there was no noise. A top tip - when you come out of the hotel turn right and within 100m there is a foot path on the right this leads to bars and restaurants and saves a long walk up hill. The hotel is close to the port which is a central location. Breakfast was very good.

We arrived at the hotel to celebrate both our birthdays (mum & daughter). The hotel had provided us a room upgrade & bottle of fizz on arrival. Very nice touch. The hotel is very clean and very well maintained. Breakfast was great choice & excellent coffee! We were in bed & breakfast accommodation and ate lunch around the pools most days. The food was excellent quality and staff were happy to adapt options to our liking (adding chicken as an extra to the ceaser salad) Great choice of unusual cocktails and bar staff also Happy to make up the more familiar ones. Great location , a short walk to the harbour & old town and in the opposite direction the new town. Both areas offer an abundance of cafes, bars & excellent restaurants. Michelin star restaurants are available too and we had pre-booked one for my daughters 21st as a special celebration. In comparison to some of those found in the UK the food was good value. The following day we ate 3-course & drinks for €52 for the 2 of us. Funchal & Next has taken my heart. Would I return? I’ve already been looking to return with my husband.

The Next hotel is not bad. Nice room and pool arena. However, there is a big negative as far as I am concerned. A DJ in the rooftop bar ruined my night's sleep. I slept on the floor below the rooftop bar and the bass shook me out of bed. The receptionist suggesties I should go to the bar to have a drink or wait until the DJ was ready. Another room was not offered....

Stay here but use the pools and sunbeds next door. Here's how. The Next hotel is part of the Savoy resort which also includes the Savoy Palace and the Royal Savoy. The pools and sunbeds are the best in the Royal. Here are two methods to use to gain access to the Royal pools and sunbeds. Go through the front reception of the Royal Savoy on the street level (8th floor) with your towel and head straight for the glass lifts that overlook the sea. If anyone on reception challenges you ( ety unlikely) just tell them that you are meeting someone who is staying at the Royal. When you are on floor zero, just help yourself to any sunbed and use the pools. If you don't take a towel with you then pick up one at floor zero in the Royal. They may ask for a room number. Just tell them you are staying in the Savoy Palace and want to swim in the sea. They may ask for your room number so just give them something like 1572 (a real room number) and they will hand over towels - they won't ask for your name. You'll then be free to spend as much time as you want on the very comfortable sunbeds and warm salt water pools 2 outdoor, 1 indoor. 5 star luxury for your four star price paid in Next. Simple - enjoy.

Our stay in the Next was close to perfect: great room, good shower, nice bed, lovely breakfast, nice top roof bar, nice pool with also sea swimming facility. The hotel is modern, clean, well equiped, with nice personal. .

Disappointing to find that basics such as having tea and coffee in the room are only available at additional expense, general amenities in the room were poor, 2in1 shampoo body wash was bad as both. Extortionate bar prices for an exclusive bar is disappointing having paid over £200 a night to stay. Charged 7.50EUR for a small glass of water and small glass of coke... Room was nice however cleaning was disappointing, when we arrived there were sanitary towels and other items in the bathroom bin from previous occupants. We were on the 8th floor and were falling asleep to continuous music, not sure if this was coming from the rooftop bar or elsewhere but it was very loud, poor soundproofing.
