From the moment we drove through the gate at Grande Plaisir, we knew that we had come to a beautiful place of respite and comfort. Marlicia and her husband designed the most perfect haven in the magnificent Franschhoek countryside, surrounded on each side by majestic mountains. No detail was overlooked in the set up and decor of the bedrooms, luxury bathrooms, kitchen (well-stocked), advice on where to eat or walk. The beds were beyond comfortable and we used the many indoor and outdoor gathering areas. In addition to romantic living rooms and dining rooms complete with a multitude of real candles and a wood stove, outside there was a beautiful pool, many seating areas, a braii and an outdoor pizza oven. Everything was so perfect we were sad to leave. And will return home to this beautiful oasis. Thank you for making our stay so beautiful and memorable.

We spent two days in this lovely house in Franschhoek. Marlicia is a wonderful host. The house is very comfortable with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. The house is also very well equipped for cooking and relaxing. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Highly recommended.

Marlicia is a caring and wonderful hostess who goes out of her way to make the stay one to remember. She even provided flowers for my wife's birthday and she makes the most delicious cumquat jam. We shall definitely return for another stay at Grande Plaisir. The property is equipped to the smallest requirement for a perfect stay.

We stayed at Small Wonder for the second time. The house is next to Grande Plaisir and is also hosted by Marlicia. We arrived one day after the severe flooding in Franschhoek and were without water and electricity for around 2 days. Marlicia helped and supported us in every possible way and made our days in Franschhoek perfect. Many thanks for everything, Marlicia. We shall definitely come back.

We had a two day stay during a few sunny days in winter. The accommodation is situated in a quiet part of town, but only a few blocks from the main street. Secure, off street parking is provided. The host is genial and helpful and live next door, The accommodation is beautifully appointed and very homely. Everythng is spotlessly clean. The kitchen is the best equiped we have ever gad in self catering accommodation. The interior decoration is very nice and linen and towels of high quality. We had a lovely stay and we felt safe while we were there. The kindness and interest of the host is appreciated. A number of food and drink items were generously provided. Sherry, fruit, coffee, tee, fresh milk etc. Also salt, pepper and some herbs for cooking and dish washing liquid. So many establishments do not provide this. We did not use the pool or outdoor braai, but loved the indoor stove for heating. We prepared simple meals which we enjoyed in front of the fire in our slippers. And the complimentary bottle of wine was enjoyed.

Absolutely first class in every respect. Fabulous clean accommodation, hosts who really care and do their upmost to ensure everything is perfect and fabulous views in a peaceful location. Everything you would ever need is provided and we would have loved to stay longer. It’s like going home!

Marlicia is a great host. The house is absolutely beautiful. The valley is stunning. Very clean, very cosy and luxurious. Bottle of wine in the fridge, tea, coffee, biscuits.... The garden is lovely the terrace too. Lovely views of the mountains. Only a 10 minute walk to the town centre. A place I would definitely recommend.

Wow! What a fantastic find in Franschhoek! The apartment was perfect for us, spacious, extremely comfortable, lots of outdoor space and a lovey pool! A private terrace with stunning mountain views was perfect for breakfast and sundowners!! Very safe and quiet area. Marlicia, our host, was perfect! From first meet and greet she was attentive without being intrusive. We will be back!!
