The Old Quay House Hotel ★★★★

"We love this hotel but unfortunately no parking. The nearest car park was about 15 mins walk away. Also no lift & many stairs. We had an upgrade so had half a view of the river which was nice. Our ensuite was down six steps. My husband fell in the shower as no shower mat, (he was ok!) so I asked reception for slip mat, supplied promptly. Breakfast was good but I had the Eggs Benedict and the eggs were excellent but chef did not toast the muffin or maybe it looked at grill! This spoilt my breakfast as it was like eating eggs on bread! Told a staff member who offered me something else. It was not busy at that time , 2 other couples . Despite this I recommend the hotel. A drink or 2 on their patio with a good book is the best place in Fowey! Staff were great, friendly but not overbearing. Lovely comfy bed & decor. I would stay again but only on first floor regardless of cost."

"L’hotel è in un palazzo veramente molto bello con una posizione meravigliosa sulla piccola baia di Fowey. L’accoglienza è gentile e disponibile. Le stanze sono pulite, ben tenute, molto spaziose. Silenziosissime, almeno per il nostro soggiorno. Le parti comuni riportano al passato. Salone, sale da gioco, bar, ristorante e persino una piccola sala cinema per bambini. Per le famiglie con figli è un posto magico, dove il tempo è scandito da attività per i più piccoli. Bella la piscina. Bellissimi i giardini. Non abbiamo provato la SPA che era comunque disponibile. Abbiamo cenato una sera. La carta è piccola ma offre diverse opzioni. Tutto discreto. Discreta anche la colazione. Comodissimo il parcheggio e, una volta sistemata l’auto, si raggiunge il paese con una passeggiata di pochi minuti. In breve, una soluzione veramente ideale se si cerca una struttura nella zona."

"We had a great couple of days here in the summer. Our room had an extraordinary view over the rooftops of the town to the river. You could watch the ships arriving and departing, some of them surprisingly big as this is still a working harbour. Bedroom was comfortable and very clean. The rooms are above the pub, but we had no problems with noise at all, and the pub is great. Everything in Fowey is within easy walking distance. Best of all: you can open the bedroom window, fully! Such a refreshing change from so many UK hotels that only let you get a centimetre of fresh air. Breakfast was fine. The hill back up to the hotel from the centre of town is very steep, so this might be a problem for some. Overall, highly recommended."
