Llwyngwair Manor, Newport, Pembrokeshire

Nice looking place, set in impressive grounds. Booked a dog-friendly room. Would have liked a double, but twin was the only option. On entering the main building, there was a stale, damp aroma which was a shame. Carpets were old, tired and not particularly clean. The room was rather cramped, with very limited space for unpacking and storing the suitcase. Wiring has yet to be chased in - always an indication of lack of O&M. Bathroom was not good: no shelves (basin shelf was missing), hooks on the back of the door were missing, and so there was literally nowhere to store bathroom items. Room did not smell good - being a dog-friendly room is no excuse for that, judging by other dog-friendly hotels we have previously stayed in. Servicing of the room was virtaully non-existent. While bottles of water were replaced, there was no room cleaning (including sweeping up old (before us), discarded sweet wrappers between the cupboard and the wall), no bed-making, and even our cups used for coffee and tea were left untouched, with bags still in. Booked and paid for three nights. Left after two, as it was simply not a nice place to be.
