Mahon's Hotel

We went for lunch to Mahon's and will not hesitate going back! The food there is consistently excellent! But go hungry as the portions are BIG! The bar man recommended the Liver and bacon - it was the tastiest meal I've had in a long time but as I have said a huge meal. The staff are so friendly too which adds to the experience!

Fabulous old fashioned friendly hotel. Great food both evening meal and breakfast. Room spacious and spotlessly clean. This hotel was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. Friendly, homely feeling to it you can feel the family history and pride that goes with it. We will stay again.

Excellent from start to finish staff a credit to hotel clean rooms entertainment very good food Excellent been here before and will b back booked 4 August hopefully get a weekend b 4 that. Can't wait to return and would recommend to any family and couples wanting a weekend break

The room was spacious and beds were comfortable. It also had a TV. The WiFi was free but kept dropping. The bulb wasn't working in one of bedside lights. The kettle was absolutely filthy looking so I would not use it the entire time. The bins also need replaced. Pure rusty. The bath was clean and ran the bath quickly but the water was not overly hot. The toilet seat kept moving about. The room was nice and warm which was good. The bed was comfortable but seriously the pillows were hard like cardboard. Need to invest in new pillows The main pro of this hotel was the food. Good options and veggie options too as well as really large portions. Breakfast was also good but the tables are laid out really bad and far too close to eachother. Just crammed in and right up against the buffet..had to walk a long way round because not even any walking room between tables. Hotel was nice and quiet at night also. There is a bar and lounge with pool table. Bar packed every night but had entertainment on

Myself and sister and 2 friends have visited 4 times this year. I used to visit with my husband but am now widowed as are all 4 of us. The owners and staff go above and beyond to make us welcome and look after us. Nothing is too much trouble. We would not get such good hospitality anywhere else. The food is gorgeous and we also enjoy the entertainment. The locals are very friendly and easy to mix with for a chat. The local shopkeepers are also so welcoming and we live to spend time looking around and treating ourselves of course. In fact I spotted a beautiful picture in gorgeous Dickeys shop but didn't buy it on the Saturday. I kept thinking about it and mentioned it to Joe Mahon later that evening. Well. He phoned the owner on Sunday morning and she and her husband came to the shop and I got the picture. After I paid she told me the picture is called "the Camelot Road to tomorrow ". When I looked up the meaning of Camelot it has several meanings. One being " a place of profound happiness" !!! How's that for service!!!! Mahons hotel is definitely my happy place !!

Lovely large room, warm, clean and spotless. Second time of staying they. Will be back. Breakfast is delicious, I had fruit bowl, yoghurt and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Friend had a fry and described it as delicious. Had dinner the night before which was very good. Warm, cosy and homely.
