Blue Ball Inn, Sandygate, Exeter

A group of 8 came down from Somerset to watch the rugby and were told to meet up here. Ideal we thought, until we walked in. The lady behind the bar made it quite clear we were not welcome in there, use the outside bar, no please, thank you or directions. After the game, we returned, the outside bar was closed, so we went indoors to get a pint (£7 a beer, £56 a round, so £448 spent so far), we were then told to get our drinks and move outside, as the inside was for diners!!! Another £150 spent waiting for our lift back! Basically £600 in their pocket and not a smile, a please or thank you. Absolutely disgraceful service and a place we wouldn't go to again. Exeter Chiefs have lost 8 people paying for tickets in future.

Arrived at the blue ball inn with some family,6 of us in total for Sunday lunch. We were seated by a waitress who didn't seem very interested in us at all but seemed very friendly to some other diners who i assume were regulars. It took about 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our drinks order. we ordered our starters which took 30 minutes to arrive but they were fine. Now for the roasts, they took an hour to arrive after i had to chase up a waitress who told me our food was next to come out but were low on staff. When our meals finally arrived the food wasn't warm but we were all famished by this time so just ate our meals. We realised afterwards that none of us got a Yorkshire pudding which was part of the meal and they do charge 21 pounds for what turned out to be a below average roast so we thought it was quite poor overall. I think we were forgotten as other diners who arrived after us were served there food before us. If there was communication we would have been ok with it all to a point but nobody bothered with us. I think after our experience we wouldnt eat there again. I think to be fair its a nice venue and maybe it was a one off but our experience wasn't great.

Popped in on a Sunday lunchtime just for a drink.. the staff ,especially the guy that served us could not have been more welcoming...we had our doggie with us who was treated to a drink (bowl of water) and some doggie treats.. definitely Sunday lunch next time .. first class service Thank you
