Located 5 miles west of La Farge, Wisconsin in the heart of the Kickapoo Valley is lodging by the day or week on a 300 acre beef ranch. At all times of the year there is a population ranging from 50-300 head of cows and calves. The bunkhouse is a renovated 100 year old two story farmhouse with 2 baths and 5 bedrooms. It sits atop a high ridge overlooking the Kickapoo Valley below. It's located only a few miles from the Kickapoo Valley Reserve and borders the Mississippi Valley Conservatory. It is not a luxury rental, rather a clean, old farmstead in a beautiful ranch surroundings. If you are looking for a reasonable place to stay while you enjoy the rural atmosphere, this could be the place for you! It is fully furnished and available for a small or large group. Have a clean place to stay while you tap the resources of the area. Hunting, trout fishing, bicycling, snowmobiling, skiing, horseback riding, kayaking, outdoor activities are all available in the area. Simply bring your own food and beverages. Sit out in the backyard and enjoy the scenery while grilling out on outdoor grill or around an open campfire. Firewood will be provided. All linens, cooking utensils, kitchen and eating materials, stove, refrigerator, towels, housekeeping materials are provided. TV and DVD for movies and internet with free WiFi as of March 24th, 2017. A few steps from the deck sits a fire pit with views of the expansive grass yard and garden. The full bathroom is stocked with essentials, and a separate laundry room adds convenience. When it’s time to rest, blackout curtains help you sleep in comfort.You'll enjoy modern conveniences like heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, T.V., washer and dryer, and dishwasher. Outside, a large yard offers space to roam, while the fire pit area is perfect for relaxing or entertaining. The spacious deck with a grill is ideal for outdoor meals or evening hangouts. Private and quiet, great place to stay. 3 minute drive from the Mississippi river and Lock and Damn #8. Local snowmobile trail runs right in front of the house, along the township road. Only 25 minutes from La Crosse, WI and 25 minutes from Viroqua, WI. Room to easily park a fishing boat or 2 or 3!See visitor's guide for places to eat in the small towns of Genoa, Stoddard, and DeSoto. Going fishing? Large turn around allows plenty of space to park and maneuver your fishing boat. Bikers: there is a garage where you can store your bikes overnight. Bike along the Mississippi River or bike on the country roads throughout the Coulee Region, or check out trails here: https://www.trailforks.com/region/vernon-county/trails/Families: Great place for family quality time. The owners of this property grew up here! Children can catch fireflies at night like we did as children. Jar provided! (We always let fireflies go in the morning). Walk and/or ride bike on the country road that runs in front of the house. This country road is a dead end, so very little traffic. There are several board games, puzzles, and lawn darts available. Both adult and children's books in upstairs dresser. Beautiful views from all windows. Relax on one of the two newly remodeled porches, one open and the other screened in.
