Travelodge Exeter M5

There are no lift and it is a challenge if you have large luggage to handle.

One of the better Travelodge’s for Customer Service; all the Staff that I encountered here are friendly and helpful, but Shawn always go’s the extra mile and is excellent at using his initiative to creatively problem-solve and think on his feet whilst remaining calm and professional. For example; I recall an occasion when I had booked a Family room but on arrival there was a maintenance issue with it which couldn’t be helped,..however the hotel was full and only had a Standard Double room available as a substitute; so to save my disappointment - Shawn went to another part of the hotel & just picked up a spare bed with his bare hands and carried it into the last remaining ‘double’ room for me without batting an eyelid; which is something that very few other hotel employees would ever do off their own back and for no personal pay-off/ instant reward! (That was all while he appeared to be working alone at a very busy ‘checking in’ time too!) I sometimes stay with a friend who is disabled and has very obvious mental health issues which often attract a lot of obnoxious staring and rude/ ignorant comments, but Shawn and other employees at this hotel are always polite, patient and courteous towards us and treat us like regular human beings which makes all the difference to my disabled friends happiness during our stay.

Travelodge always give value for money, also because it is a budget hotel , ir does not mean budget service. I asked Carla for directions and she gave me details which were spot on. Through the two days I was there I asked several things and courtesy was always at the forefront.

There was a distinct lack of maintenance in the rooms, it was quite noisy not just from the traffic but some sort of humming coming from outside along with a bright light shining right outside. The worse Travelodge stay ever. The young male receptionist was great though, very polite and welcoming .

We stayed at Exeter M5 services Travelodge for 1 night as we had an appointment in Exeter. The hotel was easy to find, it was clean and the staff member on duty was friendly & welcoming on our arrival. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable.Good value money

I have stayed at Travelodge frequently before, but not the M5 Exeter Services one. I wanted a couple of shopping days in Exeter, and it was such a bargain compared to the city hotel I usually stay in. I thought the building itself was rather old and tired, but the interior was clean and fresh. The staff were lovely - cheerful, helpful and friendly. My room was huge, clean and a big comfortable bed, a choice of pillows and far more wardrobe space than the newer, refitted rooms. The bathroom had a bath in it, which I much prefer, it was clean and light and all that I needed for a 3 night stay. If I have any criticism at all, it would be that the bathroom floor needed a proper clean in the corners by the bath tub, where water had probably overflowed and not been dried. It was incredibly quiet both inside and out. I could vaguely hear the traffic, but it certainly didn't sound like it was literally outside my window (which it was) Free parking too! So I decided to leave the car and get a taxi into the shopping centre. It was just over £10, and so much less stress than driving through the city, desperately looking for parking on a Saturday! Previous reviews had mentioned an adjoining restaurant, but it is now closed. So I went across to the services to get some picnic food. I would definitely recommend this branch of Travelodge because it was such a great price per night. But, if you need to be right in the heart of the city, it would be less convenient unless you drove in, or got a taxi like I did. I would give it a 4 out of 5.
