Logis Hôtel & Restaurant Chateau de la Marjolaine

We stayed for a couple of nights recently and our hosts were really charming, but perhaps a little too laid back for us. Having arrived direct from the UK at about 4.0pm one of the rooms was not ready and although tea and coffee was supposed to be in the rooms there was no tea or milk provided until we asked. More importantly in view of our long journey we had pre-booked a meal in the restaurant, only to be told without prior notice that it was closed that night and we should dine out. We did have a meal in the Chateau the following night and it was very good indeed. The rooms were fine and clean although the separate wc to our suite was out of order and the bed was very hard. The chateau is full of tired elegance but is a lovely old building and the gardens running down the the River Marne are beautiful. One point to note: access to the lower car park is not good. It is ok for a family saloon and we just about made it in with our cars. It is not however a place to bring your Ferrari! This hotel is very relaxing and will suit some but not others. With a little effort it has so much more potential.

Für uns war es genau, was wir suchten! Klein, fein, familiär und gemütlich. Wir buchten spontan und waren begeistert. Gute Lage, schön ruhig, am Ufer der Marne. Wir übernachteten in der Familiensuite. Da wir erst mittags losfahren konnten, waren wir unsicher, ob wir spät noch einchecken können, aber auf Nachfrage wurde es möglich gemacht. Vielen Dank dafür! Das Zimmer war genau so, wie wir es erhofft hatten. Schöne antike Einrichtung, großes Badezimmer mit Blick in den Garten. Wir liebten die Sitzmöbel. Café und Tee vorhanden, kleiner Safe und ein guter Fön. Auch flauschige Bademäntel. Es war gut beheizt und (auch weil wir die einzigen Gäste waren) super ruhig. TV hat sogar Prime und Netflix Zugang. Das Frühstück war toll. Frische Eier, oder auch mal Rührei, frisches Obst. Tolles Gebäck sowie Schinken, Wurst und verschiedene Käse. Joghurt, Trockenfrüchte und eine gute Auswahl an Säften und Tee. Alles mit Liebe angerichtet. Für 16€ pro Person absolut empfehlenswert. Die Zimmer werden nicht jeden Tag gemacht, das wussten wir zuvor nicht, war aber kein Problem für uns. Ein Tipp noch zum Parken: die Zufahrt ist für größere Fahrzeuge etwas eng, aber auch mit einem 7m Pickup machbar. Vorteil: der Wagen steht nachts sicher! Les chambres sont à rafraîchir ! Il suffit juste de désencombrer, enlever la moquette tachée, et surtout acheter des volets ... il fait vraiment jour dans la chambre du coup réveil très tôt comme les rideaux ne sont pas assez opaques . L'accueil est normal pas hyper chaleureux par la maîtresse de maison et c'est un peu dommage ! On réserve le dîner à 20h et on nous demande de venir à 19h30 et les autres viennent une heure plus tard !! Le dîner est excellent mais cher pour la région, nous sommes à la campagne 😉 le champagne n'était pas assez frais mais le point fort c est l'excellence du serveur qui est pro et très agréable ! Il manque juste le sourire et l'envie de faire plaisir à ses clients à la maîtresse de maison, être plus commerciale lorsqu'on n'a pas de tv dans une chambre et que le soleil nous réveille à 5h du mat !
