Hotel in zona OKtorail in the Gruga, Essen

The hotel is just a few minutes from the Philharmonie U-Bahn station or just a 15 minute walk from the main station and hence very nicely located. The staff are very professional and gave me a good welcome. The room was very well-kept and for the price, a good size. Excellent WiFi coverage at good connectivity speeds. Overall, a very nice stay in a very nice hotel.

Die Zimmer sind gut eingerichtet auch mal etwas weg vom typischen Zimmer. Mein Zimmer hatte separate WC und Dusche, sehr angenehm. kleines Manco , ein vergessener Gegendstand 4 Stunden nach dem CA, war angeblich nicht im Zimmer auffindbar, was schade ist. So klein war er nicht. Betten auch sehr bequem, alles in allem sehrvgutes Hotel.

I stayed here for a month whilst working in Essen. Receptionist friendly helpful and spoke excellent English. I was upgraded to an executive room, which was dated but clean and spacious and included a fridge. I was thankful for the air conditioning as the weather was hot at the time of my stay but would have preferred a sheet instead of the thick quilt. Breakfast was the standard offering but a rip off at €21 - you get a far better and cheaper breakfast at similar hotels. There’s a bar and an evening menu but this wasn’t always open however when it was the barman was great to have a chat with and get some local knowledge. There’s power sockets by the bedsides and WiFi was good. Location is good being just a 5 min walk to the underwhelming and disappointing city centre. It’s also only a 5 min walk to the metro which offers great value and for a fee of €9, gets you anywhere, although this was during a summer promotion. As a resident you get access to a gym across the road. The house keeping was at times quite poor with surfaces not wiped down. Overall a convenient place to stay but in need of modernisation which I think is a possibility in the future.

Had a great stay in Moxy Essen from 11/06/2023 – 14/06/2023. I was travelling around the Rhine Ruhr region with my friend (and we both have Marriott Gold elite status from staying in a Marriott for university). This hotel was in a great location right next to the HBF station in Essen and was clean and modern. The bar had a good vibe and we had free drinks on arrival. We used points for this stay, and the way that the points worked out meant that we had 2 different bookings over 3 nights, but this was not an issue and we managed to get the same room for the duration of our stay (we even got a bonus welcome drink for it)! I’m probably not going to do the hotel justice here, but it was a well laid out and stylish hotel with decent sized rooms. We had a twin room to share and the staff made extra effort so that we were on the quieter side of the building. We initially checked into the hotel at approximately 2pm, but decided to spend the afternoon in Wuppertal. When we arrived back on the first night. I had a shower, and there was no shampoo. No big deal, but I ended up going down to reception to ask for some. The man couldn’t find any shampoo, but about half an hour later, some appeared, I think he probably brought I from the shop as it wasn’t in the normal bright pink Moxy bottle, but it was really nice of him to make the effort. That day, the weather hit 32 degrees and whilst we were waiting for the shampoo, we tried to work out how the air conditioning worked. Between me and my friend that I was travelling with, we couldn’t work it out, so we asked the employee. However, between the 3 of us and Google we could not work it out. Anyway, I think we were the only people in the hotel that night as this was approximately midnight local time, and I think we went in every room in the corridor. To try and find one with working air con. All of them were empty! We eventually found one that wasn’t like a sauna and packed our stuff and moved. The employee was genuinely the nicest and most helpful employee I think I have ever seen in a hotel, very apologetic, but also very sociable. It was really nice to meet him as he was so happy to help. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name, but he had a ponytail I think and said he was Turkish. I think he will know who we are when he reads this! I saw him off duty in the bar the next night and thanked him. We even got 2 free breakfasts out of this!! The breakfast was good, though probably not worth the price we were told when we booked (I think it was about 15 euros but can’t remember as I have stayed in about 5 hotels in the past week and they have all rolled into one a bit). There was a few cooked items (Bacon & Scrambled Egg) and a few cold/ cereal items, but not loads. I probably wouldn’t recommend getting breakfast as all the Moxys allow a free coffee/ juice in the morning and a pastry, which is a nice touch. Situazione 8st molto centrale, specialmente se si desiderava di raggiungere la piazza Viehhofer al Nord Open Air🙂🍺🤘 Camere pulite, letti molto comodi. Se avessi prenotato di nuovo 😁

Tutto funzionava come doveva. Personale piacevole, grande stanza, grande posizione, grande valore. Il processo di check-in era delizioso, l'internet poteva essere un po' meglio, e il check-out era un brindisi. Non ho avuto la possibilità di controllare le loro offerte alimentari, ma ho sentito delle buone cose da coloro che lo hanno fatto.

Bello hotel. La signora alla ricezione/bar era molto amichevole e lavorava molto duro. Il lobby è bello con alcuni sedie e divano confortevoli. Le camere sono semplici, ma pulite e davvero tranquille. La doccia aveva una decente pressione idrica. La colazione era deliziosa, una buona varietà di cibo.

Das Procedere, ausschließlich digital und personallos, ist gewöhnungsbedürftig und eigentlich nicht „mein Ding“, aber dafür bekommt man für wenig Geld ein hübsches Zimmer. Die Suite im 4. Stock war groß, sauber, gut und modern eingerichtet und trotz der Lage mitten im Zentrum sehr ruhig. Lediglich zwei Steckdosen funktionierten nicht und der Wasserabfluß im Waschbecken war beinahe komplett verstopft. Normalerweise würde man das ja an der Rezeption melden, aber die war ja leider nicht vorhanden.
