It has been a couple of days full of great service. The people (staff) makes you feel like home, they learn your name, spoil one in everyway. Take the chance for a Spa session, won't regret it. And ask for experiences around the area, simply the best.

We spent three nights in November 2025 which it rained non-stop. The Government closed the National Parks during our visit. We were able to go to the Farm and take a night walk. Both were very nice. We really enjoyed the spa, delicious meals and friendly staff. The highlight for me was having Chef Marco show me how to make Gallo Pinto. It was a fun experience. Laura helped with a little language interpretation. They were kind enough to share the recipe. The meals here prepared by the Chefs are very good. In spite of the bad weather we really enjoyed the rainforest lodge. It was fun to arrive and depart by boat. The boat ride is 30 minutes. They provided Ponchos which helped with the rain. If it is raining, I recommend sitting directly behind the boat Captain to stay dryer.

I chose this specific destination for a surprise 40th birthday trip for my husband and I, with a very clear idea of the type of experience I wanted us to have. The Playa Cativo FAR EXCEEDED my already high expectations. From the moment our feet hit the ground from the plane, every single detail was accounted for to make our trip luxurious, adventurous, relaxing, & amazing! The food is incredible, prepared fresh with most all ingredients grown on site or sourced locally, the rooms (and entire resort) are spotless clean and luxurious. We loved all of the privacy - from having your own casita/bungalow to being completely surrounded by rainforest AND ocean, to the small number of maximum guests, 1-on-1 excursions, etc. We kayaked, snorkeled, hiked, it’s was all truly amazing!! Also, the staff are incredible - so friendly and attentive to every detail! Make Playa Cativo a MUST GO for your next adventure

I was amazed from the moment I came down the boat and saw the most fantastic view of the rainforest just a few meters away, and the welcoming smiles of the staff were from the first time until the very sad farewell never extinguished, The rooms are an adventure luxurious fantasy, I had one of the best sleeps ever listening to the sea and sound of the forest. Kudos to the chef, I looked forward to every single meal, it was fresh and tasteful. Truly delicious.

Playa Cativo offers the highest standards of luxury and hospitality in a wonderfully natural environment. This resort is the perfect combination of five star amenities and a remote eco experience, with many options for exploring the grounds and surrounding rain forest, the ocean, and nearby mango groves. The lodge and Casitas are beautiful and comfortable, and the food is particularly note worthy. Many of the fruits and vegetables are organically grown on the resort farm. There is truly something for everyone on the menu, from vegetarian to fresh fish to hearty meat dishes, along with elegant desserts.

The ultimate way to experience luxury within incredibly beautiful nature! The suits have a modern and very smart design and located in the spectacular gardens of the hotel. The only hotel in Costa Rica actually located within a national park and one that hasn't been ruined by mass tourism. You have your own private plunge pool and balcony to enjoy the view of the gardens and out to sea. You're guaranteed to see so many animals that pass by right in front of your room. The beds are super comfortable too, I didn't want to leave the suite! Every single staff member at the hotel are so lovely. They go above and beyond to ensure that you have everything you need and made my stay here so special. Kenneth the hotel Manager is so professional and clearly makes the place run like clockwork. They also helped to arrange a tour from the hotel into Corcovado National Park which was once in a lifetime trip. Definitely staying here again when I come back to Costa Rica. It is such a good way to completely relax, unplug and connect with nature again.

Visiting Playa Cativo Lodge, definitely is to reconnecting with nature, this trip is an essential human need, You will see what are the many benefits of this unespected therapy immersing yourself in the natural embrace, it´s about slowing down, breathing deeply and feeling the gentle sound of the place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Besides the sun and rainforest bathing, the whale watching, birdsong, howler monkeys, blue butterflies, orange crabs, the round trip boat ride, the SANSA plane flight , we need to talk about the total staff , gardeners, Andrés the vegetable patch manager, Vale Roman if you belive in connection she is the best forest guide, the barman Moises a 10 plus human, Edward the best Chef ever, Ashley, Keily, Kinder, Andrea, waiters, concierge always just steps away from our Villa, Karla, Kyra, in reservation and sales department, Keneth General Manager. Thank you for always being there for us , my husband and I really appreciate your constant support, we keep unforgettable experiences staying at Playa Cativo lodge , it was a secret superpower, left a lasting mark, if you need to restart yourself embark on this odyssey.

This place is just out of this world. Arrive by boat, delightful staff welcome you, eco friendly luxury, fresh fruit and veg to die for….and then fabulous rain forest, animals and birds. Oh and the best ever massage and yoga teacher Daysi. Mosquito nets on the windows, ceiling fans and NO television…. Hurray! Don’t miss the Sloth garden trip where you can see them in the wild at a family farm. Thank you all for making it a fabulous trip for my daughter and me.

My experience at Playa Cativo Lodge was simply wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by how beautiful and tranquil the place is. The room we stayed in was a true oasis of comfort, with details that made our stay even more special. What impressed me the most was the service: the attention we received both in the morning and at night was first class. We had never experienced such personalised attention, making us feel at home at all times. I met Gerald, Jhon, and Osman, who were part of the Housekeeping team during our stay, and just like them, we know there are many more employees behind the scenes who make sure our stay is as perfect as possible. At the restaurant, we received the best service from Keilyn, who made our mealtimes the most fun and enjoyable. In the office, we want to thank Tereza and Cielo for the excellent attention they provided at all times. Additionally, you must not miss the mangrove tour, a unique experience where we were able to observe a wide variety of animal species in their natural habitat. Highly recommended! Without a doubt, this is an experience I would love to repeat.
