Tucked away on the tranquil banks of the Periyar River, Cranganore History Café and Riverside Château is not just a destination. It is a different world. One that gently encourages you to slow down, breathe deeply, and in the process, fall in love with yourself all over again. From the moment we arrived, we were embraced by a sense of stillness that is so rare in our everyday lives. Our mornings began with the gentle sound of the river flowing quietly, the garden filled with the soft calls of birds, and the peaceful sight of fishermen beginning their day. It was the perfect setting for a quiet getaway and a much-needed mental detox. Our room featured a stunning four-poster bed brought in from Kolkata, and the quality of sleep we experienced was truly remarkable. We woke up each day feeling completely rested, and our nights were peaceful and undisturbed. The entire property is beautifully maintained, and the infinity pool, which overlooks the river, is serene and inviting. Every detail at Cranganore has been carefully curated by the gracious hosts, Rasmi and Vineeth. Their passion for history, heritage, and thoughtful hospitality is evident in every element of the experience. I had the pleasure of having an engaging conversation with Rasmi and Vineeth, where I learned about the journey of creating this beautiful space. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth truly elevated our stay. A highlight of our visit was a traditional Pavakathakali performance by K. C. Ramakrishnan, a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to Indian puppetry. The performance was enchanting and deeply moving, and it was a rare cultural experience that was arranged by Rasmi and Vineeth themselves. The food was another delight. Every meal was freshly prepared and filled with care. Although traditional thali meals that include payasam are usually reserved for larger groups, the staff remembered our earlier request and thoughtfully served us payasam the next day when a larger group was visiting. It was a gesture that truly touched our hearts. We were also deeply appreciative of the staff, each of whom played a role in making our stay memorable: -Agil, who managed our check-in smoothly and handled everything with calm efficiency. -Jeevan, at the restaurant, was consistently courteous and attentive, always mindful of our food preferences. -Amal, who responded promptly when we needed medicines and supported us with all our in-room service needs. -Vinnie at the spa, whose Mukhalepam and Abhyangam sessions were both relaxing and rejuvenating. We were also offered an extra bed at no additional cost, a generous and thoughtful gesture that we will always remember. Cranganore is not just a place to stay. It is an experience that nurtures your mind, body, and spirit. It is a space that invites you to pause, reconnect with yourself, and simply be. We returned home feeling lighter, happier, and with hearts full of gratitude. We will most certainl
