Hotel in zona Baby-Life, Erfurt

We stayed in this hotel on two separate nights bookending a trip to Frankfurt. This hotel is not - in our experience - typical of the Mercure brand. Far too often Mercure's are in good locations but somewhat rundown, tired and in need of attention. This is quite the opposite. It appears to have been wholly refurbished in the last five years, it is looked after. The hotel is conveniently situated near to both the old town and the main, new shopping area, both being no more than five minutes walk away. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the railway station or (for us) a €10 taxi ride. There is paid for car parking if required. This is a deceptively large hotel, the short frontage belies the fact that it has 141 rooms. The hotel stretches back from its frontage - we felt it was long and not very wide. It is spread over four floors and possibly an attic. We were on the fourth floor for our first visit and on the first floor for the second. Entry into the hotel from the street leads to a small reception area with ottoman seating. Screened from reception is a small bar and another soft seating area. The bar had elusive opening times - but seemed not to operate before 18:00 hours. Service was good. There is a restaurant that is not the breakfast room but that was not open during our stay with no sign of opening on the horizon. All public areas were clean, tidy and well maintained, albeit with a Alpine overtone! Access to the upper floors is via dedicated lifts or stairs depending upon the location of the room, with some rooms there is quite a walk to the lift. There is a small garden and paved area with seating. We saw no specific provision for disabled access but believe that the hotel is easy enough to negotiate. There is a separate breakfast room which works very well albeit it is not large. It is at the furthest end of the hotel from reception and bypasses some of the meeting rooms. Whilst these rooms were used during our stays we experienced no difficulties. We took breakfast early and the restaurant was never full or cramped. Breakfast is generous but prettty standard continental fare. Our first room (413) was a standard room and disappointing although it was clean and well cared for. Our second room however (136) was an upgrade and provided exceptional space and comfort for a reasonable price. Had we been able to satisfactorily understand the room descriptions and attributes on the website a room such as 136 would have been our preference. It had a large and comfortable double bed, a small seating area with table, a separate desk along with the usual accessories of a safe, TV, wifi etc. We didn't try the TV but everything else worked. There is no aircon but there is very effective radiator heating. We can imagine that opening the windows for some rooms would produce a great deal of street noise, but both our rooms were towards the rear of the hotel and quiet. Abbiamo soggiornato con 6 adulti in 3 camere standard. Camere molto pulite e pulite e buone isolamento acustico. La colazione era molto grande tutto quello che si aspettavano era lì. Il personale della reception e del bar erano amichevoli, il personale del colazione era piuttosto rigido e si trovava un po' freddo.

Grande posizione, a 2 minuti a piedi dalla cattedrale di Erfurt. La stanza stessa non è quello che si aspetta da un 4-stars-hotel. Absolutamente incomodo, freddo, vecchi mobili che non sono adatto a un tale hotel. Horribile rumore, basicamente si può sentire i vostri vicini, terribile! Non menzionare il vecchio rumore a/c! Non c'è un caffè o almeno un caldo nella stanza! Invece è gentile chiedere di andare alla reception e comprare caffè o qualsiasi bevanda dalla macchina di vendita. E per favore, gente, controllare il pacchetto dei tessuti! Se ci sono solo diversi tessuti, allora è meglio cambiare l'intero pacchetto invece di aspettare che sia vuoto ...or sono sbagliato? ! Durante il mio prossimo viaggio a Erfurt cercherò di confrontarlo con un altro hotel, questo da me ottiene il più basso marchio possibile!

Wir waren am 13.10.23 im Hotel für zwei Nächte. Wir haben das Hotel ausgewählt, weil die Erfahrungen in Tuttlingen in der selben Hotelkette sehr positiv waren. Leider kann ich das von Erfurt nicht behaupten. Das Hotel liegt verkehrsgünstig mit Straßenbahnanbindung circa 4 km außerhalb des Zentrums. Die Zimmer sind relativ klein und es gibt kein getrenntes Bad und Toilette. Für zwei Tage ist die Zimmergröße gerade ausreichend, jedoch gibt es keinen Schrank. Der Service ist sehr unmotiviert. Das merkt man schon beim Check in. Im Restaurant muss man mit sehr langen Wartezeiten rechnen und auch an der Bar geht es nur sehr schleppend voran. Wir wollten abends einfach ein Bier trinken und haben über 45 Minuten auf unser Getränk gewartet. Für ein vier Sterne Hotel unzumutbar. Obwohl die Zimmer am Wochenende nicht gereinigt werden, wie uns gleich mitgeteilt wurde ,ist die Sauna von 10:00 Uhr bis 15:00 Uhr ebenfalls nicht benutzbar, weil das Personal für die Zimmerreinigung benötigt wird. Alles in allem ist das Hotel mit dem Übernachtungspreis sehr überteuert, zumal der Service unglaublich eingeschränkt ist. Wir werden uns nicht noch einmal für dieses Hotel in Erfurt entscheiden.

L'hotel è a pochi passi da Erfurt. Ma si trova in 20 minuti con l'auto in centro città. Parcheggi sono abbondanti e costa 2 euro per notte. Il personale è molto attento e super amico per i bambini. L'appartamento in tutto l'hotel è moderno e estremamente mantenuto. Le camere sono molto pulite e dotate di tutto quello che è necessario. La colazione è stata abbondante e la selezione è stata eccellente. Il ristorante ha avuto molto buon cibo. Tuttavia, avremmo voluto una piccola selezione di cibo per bambini. Se siamo di nuovo vicini, sicuramente prenoteremo questo hotel.

Location, lovely restaurant and great staff I booked because it’s right opposite the train station ….. but this hotel is so much more. Often ‘right opposite the train station’ means you are sacrificing something in terms of appearance and slight seediness for the convenience - but not here ! It’s a lovely old hotel (with a nice history), restored several times over the years, with a particularly impressive glass-surrounded restaurant for all meals. Location - as well as being on a pretty square right in front of the train station it’s less than 10 minutes’ easy straight line walk from the museums and the historic old town. There are plenty of nicely located hotels in the centre too by the way - just not as good for train access. The hotel restaurant is a real delight. Go for the breakfast buffet with some of the best prepared hotel bacon I have ever come across - crispy, fat-free and warm - plus all the usual egg, cereal, fruit salad and bread options. Standard coffee good German filter not espresso (though that’s available at the bar); orange juice average. Supper was freshly cooked smallish choice (these do go hand in hand, of course) - have a look at the menu in advance and if there’s something you like the look of eat here, quality is excellent. Staff very friendly; rooms moderate size, very clean, toiletries provided (shower gel and shampoo, no lotion or conditioner). Large non-leaky showers. You can claim a free snack if you forego your room servicing (!) ….. Rooms are non-smoking but they provide a smokers’ lounge for *******. To be recommended.

L' albergo è ottimo da tutti i punti di vista: posizione, pulizia, attenzione e gentilezza del personale. L' ambiente è sempre tranquillo, anche quando gli ospiti sono molti. La nostra stanz era ampia, accogliente e ben strutturata. Ho dato solo 4 punti invece di cinque perchè durante il nostro soggiorno, che comprendeva due pernottamenti, gli asciugamani del bagno non sono stati cambiati e li abbiamo quindi ritrovati bagnati come li avevamo lasciati. Trovo che in un albergo di questo livello tale scelta, come quella di proporre al cliente di non rifare la stanza in cambio di un minuscolo bonus, siano assurde. Mi sbaglierò, ma temo che in questo modo l'ambiente guadagni molto meno della proprietà dell' hotel. Tornando agli aspetti positivi aggiungo che la colazione era principesca e al ristorante si mangia altrettanto bene.
