Essence Hotel

I stayed in this hotel at the end of Aug last year and couldn't fault it - hence opting to return this year with 5 of my family. Big mistake!!!! I don't know if it has changed Management but the place has gone downhill! 6 of us stayed and paid over €700 for 2 nights. The reason for our trip was to visit Meteora. One person in our family group was our Grandmother who would of struggled with the heat and steps at Meteora, with this in mind we booked this hotel for the pool area so she could spend a relaxing day at the pool while we were out for the day. We left early and she attended the pool when it opened at 11am, within half an hour or so the pool was descended upon by the local youth community that took most of the beds, and spent the day pushing the other into the pool and shouting, She couldn't move beds to sit in any shaded areas so ended up retuning to her room for the entire day! I spoke to reception about this and was advised that they let the locals use the pool for €10 for a day, the pool isn't particularly big so with a large crowd of youths you can imagine what it is like! It is at detriment to the paying guests of the hotel who have paid hundreds of pounds to stay in this establishment and it would be fair to actually be transparent about this agreement with prospective guests so they are aware that there stay will be ruined by local teenagers and that they may not be able to use the swimming pool because of screaming kids pushing each other and being loud. Similarly at night the local youths also descend upon the hotel patio at the side of the bar where rooms are above till very late smoking, shouting and screaming - the hotel staff allow this, thus causing you issues if you're trying to sleep! This hotel is more like a local youth club than a hotel. I didn't experience any of this during my previous visit, had i then i absolutely would never have returned and even brought my family. It's been embarrassing and very disappointing and today we are glad to be leaving to return to Nydri! Furthermore, this wasn't the only issue, We booked 3 rooms, in one room the air conditioning was broken, the other rooms the air con wasn't good at all. The pillows were so uncomfortable, the towels were threadbare and need refreshing, the bathroom was drab and worn - the entire hotel rooms need an overhaul. If you're looking for a hotel that you can relax in and enjoy the facilities then this isn't for you! The hotel seems to care more about the local youths using the facilities than the people who have paid a lot of money to stay as a guest. I wouldn't return and i do not recommend. I also would not rate it as a 4 star hotel, it is absolutely not 4 star, it's run down and needs updating! Also the breakfast is just weird!! I've had continental breakfasts many times but this has got to be up there with the worst, no toaster, food dragged out from days prior that is stale, the coffee was ok!

This is not a luxury hotel, but it is very nice. We stayed there for two non-consecutive nights and in each case the staff were very friendly nad helpful and checkin was easy. The rooms were nice and there was a pool that we did not have time to try. Also a small gym. Breakfast was good but not extraordinary. Finally, the hotel is within easy walking distance from the airport (about 15-20 minutes walk), although a little difficult to find in the dark!

Great location, near the airport, for those of us exploring not just Ioannina but the rest of the region. Modern spacious rooms, interesting decor. Free parking. We had dinner at the hotel on our first night, and the food was delicious, especially the garlic pesto kritharoto. Staff are very nice. Breakfast is good - but not amazing. The hotel will probably need an update soon, it's starting to look a bit tired. The hotel gym needs new equipment too. Our room smelled a little bit of cigarette smoke when we checked in - we spoke to reception but they were fully booked at the time.

Our check-in was extremely quick, and all staff was very friendly and helpful. Towels were changed every day, and room cleaned everyday. Sadly on the down side however, the problems that arose were the following: -The bathroom had a sliding glass door that was extremely unsuitable, (l broke a nail trying to open it), no privacy at all from the bedroom since it did not close properly. -Shower had no curtain or sliding protection door resulting in all the bathroom flooding with water from the shower, making it impossible to get dressed in there. (l had to request an extra bathmat (towel) to be able to walk out of the shower since the one next to it was soaking) --Extremely low lighting in the whole room, especially the bathroom, making it extremely difficult to shave (husband) and for me to put on my makeup. -Breakfast could have had more choices, and at least there could have been a toaster on hand instead of just plain bread offered....and coffee could at least been hot instead of lukewarm. I understand that it is a minimalist hotel, but at least have the essentials i.e. towel rack, bathroom shelf etc Kudos to the cleaning lady who had to clean everyday the water from the bathroom and keep in shining condition Not the 4 star it is made out to be unfortunately. l had read all the reviews from previous visitors and had hoped that the hotel would have taken in account their reviews, but unfortunately, they had not.

Ας ξεκινήσουμε από τα βασικά. Αυτά που βλέπετε στις φωτογραφίες δεν αντιπροσωπεύουν την πραγματικότητα. Χίλια μπράβο στον φωτογράφο που κατάφερε και έκρυψε το πόσο ερείπιο είναι το κατάλυμα. Συγκεκριμένα: Τα δωμάτια υπερβολικά μικρά, ο ένας πάνω στον άλλον. Τα δωμάτια πενταβρώμικα, σκόνη παντού. Το τζάμι της πόρτας του μπάνιου πιθανώς να μην έχει καθαριστεί ποτέ ( βλέπε συννημένη φωτογραφία ). Ντουλάπες, πενταβρώμικες. Λεκάνη; Είχε αλλάξει χρώμα ο πάτος της, χλωρίνη δεν χρησιμοποιείται ποτέ, ούτε μία μέρα δεν μυρίσαμε κάτι σε χλωρίνη ή κάτι τέλος πάντων που να θυμίζει καθαριότητα. Το κτίριο σε άθλια κατάσταση εξωτερικά ( φθορές - βαψίματα ) αλλά και εσωτερικά καθώς τα έπιπλα ήταν χτυπημένα και είχαν χάσει το χρώμα τους όπως και οι τοιχοι έχουν ξεβάψει στους διαδρόμους. Η αισθητική του ξενοδοχείου επίσης άθλια, παντού κουρτίνες χωρίς λόγο με περίεργα φώτα που δεν βλέπεις το βράδυ στους διαδρόμους. Το δωμάτιο διαθέτει πάρα πολλά φώτα, τα οποία δεν κλείνουν ξεχωριστά, έχουν έναν κεντρικό διακόπτη. Οπότε είτε θα στραβώνεσαι από το φώς είτε δεν θα βλέπεις μπροστά σου. Στην ντουζιέρα βρήκαμε μισοτελειωμένα σαμπουάν από τους προηγούμενους που οι καθαρίστριες δεν είχαν μαζέψει. 3 συνεχόμενες ημέρες, δεν μου έβαζαν πανοσέντονο και έπρεπε να τους παίρνω τηλέφωνο στις 12 το βράδυ να μου φέρουν. Οι καθαρίστριες δεν χρησιμοποιούν ηλεκτρική σκούπα. Σκούπα και φαράσι και άγιος ο Θεος. Την τελευταία μέρα ανέβηκα πίσω στο δωμάτιο μετά το πρωινό και έζεχνε ιδρωτίλα, αναγκαστικά αφήσαμε 10 λεπτά ορθάνοιχτα για να ξεμυρίσει μέσα στο κρύο. Οκ καταλαβαίνω οτι οι άνθρωποι ιδρώνουν όταν καθαρίζουν και κάνουν δουλειές αλλά όχι και έτσι βρε παιδιά, δεν μπορούσαμε να σταθούμε. Μπαλκόνι; Οκ, καρεκλάκια στο μπαλκόνι; Οκ. Τραπεζάκι; Ποτέ, οπότε μπαλκόνι δεν μπορείς να κάτσεις και να θέλεις ( αν θες να κάτσεις σε μπαλκόνι μέσα στην βρώμα, ιστούς αράχνης και σκόνη που δεν έιχε καθαριστεί κυριολεκτικά ποτέ ). Πάμε στο πρωινό: Πρωινό στο υπόγειο ( -1 ) σε τραπέζια 8 ατόμων τα οποία ήταν γεμάτα ψίχουλα και αναγκαστικά θα πρέπει να φάς και με άλλους αγνώστους πρωινό στο ίδιο τραπέζι. Τα φαγητά μπαγιάτικα και πλαστικά, το μόνο ωραίο ήταν το νερό. Χαρτοπετσέτες άφαντες, μόνο αν ζήταγες. Τη Δευτέρα δε, κατεβήκαμε μισή ώρα αφού είχε τελειώσει το πρωινό επειδή κανείς δεν μας είχε ενημερώσει πως τις καθημερινές τελειώνει πιο νωρίς. Φύγαμε και νηστικοί οπότε. Πολλά συγχαρητήρια στον φωτογράφο καθώς κατάφερε εκπληκτικά να καμουφλάρει αυτήν την τρώγλη που αποκαλείτε ξενοδοχείο 4 αστέρων. Και να μας πλήρωναν δεν θα ξαναπηγαίναμε. 200 ευρώ το βράδυ για οικογένεια 3 ατόμων, καλύτερα να τα έκαιγα παρά να τα έδινα σε αυτούς. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως το σημαντικότερο πρόβλημα από όλα αυτά είναι η καθαριότητα. Δεν είναι καθαρό, οι καθαρίστριες δεν καθαρίζουν, μπαίνουν 5 λεπτά στο δωμάτιο σου πετάνε 2 σεντόνια και φεύγουν. Προτείνω στη διεύθυνση να αναθεωρήσει το προσωπικό που έχει επιλέξει για την καθαριότητα του καταλύματος. 1 Αστέρι γιατι δεν μπορώ να βάλω 0. Μακριά από το συγκεκριμένο

Από που να ξεκινήσω. Με το καλησπέρα δεν είχαμε το κεντρικό φως του δωματίου μόνο 2 μικρά φώτα κίτρινα ίσα ίσα να λέμε ότι βλέπουμε. Όταν ρωτήσαμε εάν μπορεί να γίνει κάτι με το φως, μας είπε ότι μόλις έγινε και δεν μπορεί να κάνει κάτι για αυτό την μέρα που πήγαμε και προφανώς δεν μας πρότεινε να αλλάξουμε δωμάτιο. Στο μπάνιο υπήρχε μόνο ένα μικρό δειγματακι με σαμπουάν και ένα μικρό αφρόλουτρο για 2 άτομα. Δεν υπήρχε πουθενά στο μπάνιο μια πρίζα με αποτέλεσμα να φτιάχνει η γυναίκα μου τα μαλλιά της εξω χωρίς φως και καθρέφτη. Σε γενική εικόνα το δωμάτιο σκονισμένο και το χειρότερο ήταν το κρεβάτι που θα δείτε από την φωτογραφία κάτω (δεν θέλει περιγραφή). Αναφορικά με το πρωινό όλα κρύα και με μικρή ποικιλία δεν παρείχαν χαρτοπετσετες & νερο παρά μόνο αν ζητούσες. Ο χώρος του πρωινού ήταν εξαιρετικά κρύος (χρειάστηκε να φέρουμε μπουφάν) ασε που δεν μάζεψε κανένας τα πιάτα και όλα αυτά για 27 άτομα που είμασταν για πρωινό. Τσάμπα 75€+3€ φόρο. Απογοήτευση...
