My husband and I arrived for the Bee Gees evening, which he booked as a surprise, and as we were walking through the hotel, we didn’t receive a single word of greeting until the restaurant. We passed reception and the receptionist was just glued to her mobile telephone and the cleaner simply ignored us. The food and service in the restaurant was lovely; there was a short delay between courses but I understand you were very busy. James and Michelle were efficient and professional, but warm and welcoming. Our main gripe of the evening was the atrocious music. The whole night we had your pianist, who is fantastic in that area, attempting to sing - meaning, screeching and screaming - hits from the Bee Gees. Nothing was in tune, the volume was too high, and the vocals were the worst I’ve ever heard. The only people cheering appeared to be his family, as both tables either side of me complained also. Not only did we have to content with your pianist, but also we had whom I believe to be his father, even worse than he was! He acted as though he was a superstar, despite being dreadful. We asked if these events had been held before and, to our surprise, we were told yes! How this can be permitted in such a hi class establishment, I do not know. We were extremely disappointed with the evening, as we’d expected professional vocalists who at least knew the words to the songs and could hit some notes - not the atrocity experienced last night. We are unlikely to rerun and tried to contact the hotel directly to raise these comments.
