Aethos Ericeira

This is a lovely hotel, with great staff, rooms, dining room, sauna, pool etc. But I will advise any one looking for an escape, a peaceful zen like experience, this is not the place for you. There are children everywhere, the pool while beautiful, has a very noisy Disneyland like atmosphere, and the dining room was loud and chaotic .. sadly it was not relaxing..we were there in October, I can only imagine the atmosphere in the summer.

Aethos Ericeira absolutely fulfills its rating as a five star hotel and experience! The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, on top of its already incredible location on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. The hotel itself provides a modern experience with plenty of luxury amenities. The staff were all extraordinarily professional and kind. I would highly recommend Aethos Ericeira to anyone!

This is a great property right on the ocean's edge! Very modern with a wonderful staff. The view is great but can be windy! The restaurant has a limited menu for dinner and lunch but a terrific breakfast buffet. The one draw back is that it is a bit isolated and a good distance from any restaurants; taxis are available but it would be best to have car. As we weren't driving, we would have preferred to stay in town. If you have transportation and looking for a quiet place, the Aethos Erceria is for you!

Upon entering the Aethos Ericeira Hotel, located on a former cliff farm on the west coast of Portugal, we were immediately greeted by an ambiance of understated luxury and comfort. This gem, nestled in the charming coastal town of Ericeira, embodies a refined escape from the hustle and bustle, with the gentle lapping of the Atlantic Ocean in the background as a constant melody. The architecture and interior, designed by Lisbon-based Pedra Silva Arquitectos together with Spanish design studio Astet, celebrate a harmonious fusion of traditional Portuguese design with modern, minimalist aesthetics. Every detail, from the striking arched windows to the carefully chosen earth tones, contributes to a warm and inviting atmosphere that embraces every guest. The rooms are spacious and offer a range of modern conveniences, while the subtle earthy color palette, high-quality materials, and comfortable bed ensure a restful sleep and a sense of total relaxation. The breakfast was well cared for with plenty of choice of freshly prepared dishes. However, the dining area can feel a bit cramped at full occupancy of the hotel, especially in the off-season when it's less pleasant to sit outside. Nevertheless, the start of the day was always pleasant with a delicious breakfast in a charming setting. We recommend renting a car, as the nearest beaches are not easily reached on foot. Both Ericeira and the nearby Santa Cruz are nice villages to visit. For a day trip, it is worth driving to Praia Carvalhal in Comporta (about 2 hours drive) and enjoying the beautiful nature and a delightful lunch at the Sublime Comporta Beach Club. Another thrilling day trip is to Nazaré, known for its massive waves where die-hard surfers set world records. With waves that can reach up to 25 meters high, it's a breathtaking spectacle that attracts surfers and spectators from all over the world. What we particularly appreciated was the flexibility and understanding the staff showed when our daughter fell ill a day before our departure. Without hesitation, we were allowed to stay a bit longer in our room on the day of checkout, which made a world of difference in our situation. A downside was the lack of price lists for items in the minibar and spa treatments. It would have been helpful to have a clear overview of the costs for these extras. An extra word of appreciation is in place for Veronica, Andre, and Bruno, each of whom contributed to our great experience with a smile and a personal touch. And of course, our thanks to everyone we may have forgotten to mention, you all made our stay special. We stayed for 7 glorious nights at Aethos Ericeira in mid February. The hotel is beautifully designed and situated with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean - just a few minutes drive from local beaches and the town of Ericeira. The hotel has been carefully and tastefully designed in a scandi style. Breakfasts were a special part of the day, with a lovely personal service provided by the friendly but discreet staff. We used the pool, gym and steam room a few times and we had the space pretty much to ourselves. This hotel ticked all the boxes for a peaceful and luxurious week away. Highly recommend!

Very pretty design hotel about 15min drive from Ericeira town. Located on cliffs with seaviews all around, sleeping with the sound of the ocean and waves breaking. Decor is astonishing and very welcoming - great lobby area to relax and hang out. Terrace overlooking ocean, cliffs and sunset with all kinds of comfy chairs. Hotel has a really nice vibe. Nothing in the neighborhood for now so you need to bring your own wheels. Great heated pool (28C)  in inner courtyard with loungers and surrounded by grasses. Looks awesome and mid november swimming in 28C is really comfortable. No seaview but with the wind around here, you want your pool located out of the wind. Restaurant has a great terrace with beautiful views, large windows so you have awesome views from anywhere. Breakfast is very good with lots of options, including healthy ones. All looks fantastic and tastes really good. We had dinner one night and food was fantastic: my grouper caldeirada style was delicious. Got some creamed spinach on the side and this was the best I ever had. Oysters from Rio Formosa to start with and some sourdough and olives. Staff is incredibly friendly and attentive and cater to every need. We could do an online check-in and indicate at which time we woudl arrive. I indicated 10pm as we had dinner with friends first however they emailed me in the evening and called me as well to ask when we would arrive. I did not have my data on so did not get the email and I do not answer phonecalls from unknown numbers as we get those a lot in HK and they are all bogus marketing calls. Also don’t understand why you ask guests for check-in time during online check-in and then do not read the answer. Hotel is all modern design but that comes with some impractical flaws. Bathroom has a glass wall so you can oversea the sea when showering. There is a room divider parked in front that is see-through. However, when u turn on the lights in the middle of the night in the bathroom, the entire room is flooded with light taking your partner up in the room. There is a minibar but no coffee or tea making facilities, not even a kettle. We did ask for one and got one immediately as I love my cup of tea in the evening. However you would expect some facilities like this in the room. There was a mini bar with alcohol though. Bathrobes are extremely short and small and we are not very tall nor big people. They end above knee and you can’t close them completely and leaves you with a gaping hole all over your thighs Do note the seaview rooms are on the side of the hotel with the service road in front of you: suites have the real seaview. Since it was quiet in the hotel, not a problem but I expect in high season there will be more traffic and people. Balconies have iron railings and when u sit down on the comfy chairs - you look through the dividers and they do the obstruct your view. Looks all nice designy but shame of the obstructing view.
