AC Hotel Sant Cugat

This hotel is not in a tourist neighborhood therefore it is much cheaper than hotels in prime areas of Barcelona. It is mostly used for business purposes but we found it suitable for a leisure stay while having a car. In my opinion this hotel is quite good and on par with the AC brand. I was upgraded to a suite as Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite and had a nice bottle of wine waiting in the room for us as a welcome gift. The suite was not very big but had the convenient extra half bathroom therefore two toilets available. Breakfast was a highlight, only 11 EUR per person for the buffet and the quality was excellent and had more dishes than simply the standard boring items so we enjoyed it, and in addition it was nice and quiet for a relaxing time. The only small issue during our stay that I could imagine some guests might not be too happy about was the internet connection. I did not mind because during our stay I used my laptop near the lobby where everything was fine, but apparently in some rooms (like ours) internet is not really working well. It depends which room I guess, ours was in the corner of the building so that possibly contributed to it. Other rooms might not have any issue though.

Stayed overnight on a Leger Holidays tour. Comfortable rooms that had a safe, Mini bar/Fridge, Kettle and free air con. Could have done with a mirror above the desk area. Loads of freebies. Plenty of shower gel and shampoo etc. Restaurant was good with food allergies etc at group dinner. Nice outdoor pool area with towels supplied. Only bad point was the bar doesn't open until around 5 or 6pm which is a shame because it would have been nice to have unwound on arrival after the flight. Also the bar service was a bit hit and miss.

I stayed at this hotel for approximately one week. The bathroom wallpaper in the room makes the bathroom look dirty. The gym is nice but doesn’t have any ellipticals. The hotel is not near any restaurants but it is near several grocery stores. The walk to the grocery stores is dangerous as there are no sidewalks for some of the journey. There is a train station nearby. I would not recommend the pizza from the hotel restaurant but the fries are great! Foods from the grocery store I would recommend are Kinder Bueno white, Aldi refrigerated curry chicken and white rice meal, Aldi Patatas Fritas Al Perol Extragruesas. Foods from the grocery store I would not recommend are: Haribo Star Mix gummies, Aldi macaroni bolognese, Aldi chicken croquettes, Lays campesina, Cocteleo original flavor, Nutella sandwiches, Lays ruffles jamon.

Arriving to the hotel we were told they messed up the reservations and there were no rooms available but they already made a reservation in another nearby hotel. The other hotel was of much lower category. Pool closed in the other hotel, one double bed and not two individual beds. I would be quite surprised if the other hotel would be able to use the Marriott brand…..nevertheless after seeing the other hotel we went back to AC hotel San Cugat to write an official claim. Surprisingly while doing this other clients were checking in. But no room for us. But it is no shame to go when you get kicked out. I think I have had it with AC hotels and wonder how Marriott can afford their name being used in connection with those principles.
