Mixed thoughts on this hotel. First the good news. The location is excellent. Right on the beach adjacent to the long walking/cycling path that runs through Half Moon Bay along the water and a short drive to the downtown area. It’s also steps away from Sam’s Chowder House, which is a can’t miss dining experience. The complimentary breakfast was probably the best I’ve ever had. Incredible selection of pastries, fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, etc., including gluten free options. The downside was the room. Granted, it was the least expensive option, which is billed as facing the countryside as opposed to the ocean. However, it just across the parking lot from Hwy 1, so the traffic noise was constant and the small patio overlooked the parking lot. The real downer was the sofa bed. It was uncomfortable and noisy. My travel companion tossed and turned all night, unable to get comfortable, and the creak of the bedsprings at her every movement kept me awake all night. If your budget allows, definitely get an ocean facing room and spring for a second bed.
