Unfortunately a regrettable stay at this hotel and without even entering my room had been told that the pools were shut due to chemical balance to then be told hours later after saying this to staff is unacceptable as it was not advertised everything was shut was suddenly available as the manager had got lifeguards hired. This being said the external of the hotel is undergoing huge building works and you are launching next to a building site in which I was woke up by kango machine at 7:30am. The forklift drives through the open sunbathing area with children playing ball. The Harris fencing is blowing and falling into the area in which the children walk how experience is extremely disappointing. Besides these remarks the pool is freezing. Staff found to be very rude and unhelpful, snacks in all inclusive include a cup of crisps and a small cup of peanuts. Trying to find some positives, food is fairly basic but something to find to eat. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable will be at basic. Location is fairly far out but has what you need. Overall, I would never visit this hotel again. I would advise other people not to would be my personal opinion. I’ve complained to the hotel and my travel agent and utterly disappointed.

We stayed after the Easter holidays for three nights on a half board basis on the third floor with a pool and sea view. This was our first time at the Colonial Mar and from check in to check out we had a fantastic time. The room was renovated as I believe all are now and we really liked it, from the open concept wardrobe to the lighting behind the headboard. All the drawers were soft closing including the toilet seat as well. Large TV on the wall with several UK TV channels with two double beds and plenty of room. We also really enjoyed the dining room again totally renovated. In April there were no issues getting a table and for a Spanish hotel it was very quiet noise wise but I can imagine that in the height of summer this maybe different. We also enjoyed the food with plenty of choice, hot and presented very nicely. We found this for both dinner and breakfast. The ladies also in the restaurant were very good and cleared the plates quickly although the male waiters did tend to hide a bit. Finding a spot around the pool was never a problem and was enjoyable watching the families and children having a really good time. There is work going on near the pool, looks like maybe a pool with a fountain. This didn't really bother us but I can imagine at the early stages the noise might have been to much. At no time did we come across rude or difficult guests as mentioned in other reviews just people having a really good time, in fact our three nights felt a lot longer due to our relaxing stay. All staff were very pleasant and spoke English to a degree and there was absolutely no problem communicating with any of them from the receptionists to the bar men to the ladies in the restaurant. The only issue for us was the shower water pressure was very low, not a problem now but in summer with sun tan lotion, etc and the heat and humidity might be a problem.

Always travel with jet2 and can’t fault them. They have however made a big mistake with this hotel. It definitely isn’t a 4* hotel. I wouldn’t give it a 2*. The room was nice but that’s about it. The food was terrible. Everything was cold. I was going to have soup one day but it wasn’t even tepid. I was told to use the microwave, not something you should have to do on an all inclusive holiday. Me and my daughter ended up eating at McDonalds and KFC because the food was that bad. I love a salad bar but all that was on offer was lettuce, dried cucumber, warm tomato and soggy carrots. All other items just looked like slop. Once out of your room it looked like a prison. There was minimal cleaning done outside around the pool area. The pool was freezing. The floors around the pool are all cracked and not very well maintained. I will never return to this hotel. Just to add. 1-11-24 all I could hear were dogs barking on level 5. Who on earth allows dogs in a 4* hotel? So very disappointed.

Worst place I've been to!! Don't bother and don't book The hotel placed school kids (early teens) next door and I have called reception over 5 times now over the noise, it's passed midnight and still no resolution other than being told that they spoke to their teacher and the kids. The walls are thin, kids screaming and running up and down the corridor. Noisy nights and facilities are subpar. I've lost a lot of sleep from this alone. Cleanliness is subpar, you can literally walk on the hotel room floor and onto bed and you'll see black footprints on there. Everything still under construction, the look of the hotel is still not great. Looks better on outside but inside is just nothing. I would not recommend this place to anyone
