We had a warm welcome from Joe before we headed off on our first drive with Joe and the very experienced and knowledgeable Reuben who both remained as our guides for the next 3 days. We were privileged to experience “The big 5” along with birds and plants. The accommodation was exactly what we expected in lovely safe surroundings. The food was plentiful and very reasonably priced bar considering how remote we were , enhanced the experience. The early morning starts are so worth getting up for, but plenty of time to relax before the sunset drive late afternoon . Overall an unforgettable experience and we hope we can return one day !

The camp is not too big. It has beautiful, nicely decorated tents with toilet and shower. Everything you need is there. The comunal area is very confortable too vith a great view on a waterhole where animals like hyenas, impalas etc. can be seen. The safari drives were phantastic and our guide very knowledgeable. We saw a pride of about 10 lions hunting a buffalo, then 5 young male lions another day, also leopards, cheetah, ellies, rhino etc. The only thing "regular" was the food, but that is not so important. We had an unforgettable time and hopefully I can come back some day.

Have been to this wonderful bush/tented camp in the Timbavati several times and each is better than the last. Excellent game viewing, dining and accommodations are backed up with the best staff ever! Guides (Sam, JoHan) are knowledgeable, well informed and fun to be around. This is an authentic bush experience that doesn't skimp on creature comforts. Loved every minute and plan to go back.

Wonderful stay at Shindzela; saw many animals (big 5 plus many more) and in between safari drives, enjoyed relaxing at the beautiful property and in the small pool. An elephant came right up to the fence when we were in the pool. Hotel staff and our tracker and guide (Sam) were fantastic; recommend a minimum of 3 nights to maximize potential animal sightings. Also recommend booking a shuttle from HDS to Shindzela for the least stressful experience; approx. 25 km of the route is on a deeply rutted dirt road and we were worried about the rental car not making it through the deep standing water after rain. Excellent value for a once in a lifetime experience.

Just go! The camp was lovely, the game drives were great, food was excellent and staff was amazing - shout out to Ruben, Oxide and Lorna. We saw the big five on the first 3 drives as well as cheetahs. Don’t sell yourself short - stay for at least 3 days. Unless you feel strongly you need some over the top luxury camp, then this is the spot for you. My guess is the camp might get a little warm in hot weather but it was perfect when we were there

Shindzela Camp is an excellent, good-value safari option for Greater Kruger for those who do not seek absolute luxury. The camp is in the heart of the bush in the Timbavati Reserve, about a 1.5 hour drive from the main gate entrance (wihch itself is only 20 minutes drive from Hoedspruit Airport). The tents are contained within solid wooden structures, so give a good feeling of being in the wild but still completely safe and comfortable. Meals were excellent and well-organised. Best of all, the game drives were amazing! They were extremely well led by the guide and his tracker buddy. We saw all the big five, including a pair of leopards mating! The pool is very small but guests do not come here to swim. There are no power sockets in the rooms, but there are dedicated power sockets for each room at reception (essential for charging phones, etc.).

We are repeat guests to this lovely, small tented camp with bathrooms ensuite. Great food. Nice bar service. Relaxed atmosphere. Cute little swimming pool and the social area has a perfect view of the water hole - so much game passes there. All staff are friendly and helpful. Really lovely camp to relax in and superb game drives. We highly recommend Shindzela Tented camp in the Timbavati Reserve.

We stayed 4 nights in mid August and everything from the very comfortable accommodation , to the food and the service , and the intimate african bush atmosphere was excellent . The game drives gave us very special and close-up wildlife sightings in an area where there was few other vehicles . In 4 days we saw several sightings of different groups of white Rhino , 3 male Lions , at least 2 different packs of Wild Dogs , and a Leopard directly above us in a tree as well as many herds of elephant which frequently visited the water station overlooked by Shindzela . This is a very special place

Shindzela is a more affordable bush camp in the Timbavati Game Reserve. Great value for money, their concession has a lot of wildlife. The camp is not so big, they go out with 2 vehicles. Which were never full during our stay. Dinner next to the fire, nothing to complain here food was good. You go to Shindzela when your main focus is doing game drives. There is also a pool.
