Really disappointed with the Newcastle Inn and Breakfast. I drove from S. Alberta leaving early in the day. Thought I had booked a B&B for much less, in fact less than HALF of what I had paid for at Newcastle Inn and B. But found out too late that the initial B&B I had booked with, the registration etc. did not go through on line. Stopped in at the Drumheller Info. and Tourism center, for help. The young women there were super helpful; but, given that it was a very busy weekend in Drumheller; they found Newcastle Inn and did say it would be more expensive. At that time of the day I did not want to sleep in my vehicle alone because the concert I went to was over about 11 PM that night. I paid the $218 by debit and really had no choice, I felt. The owners of this Inn of course were delighted with my 1 night stay. I WAS NOT. First of all I specifically told Mr. Singh that I had mobility issues and would prefer a lower level unit with no or very few steps. It wasn't the steps in the prefab unit that immediately was a concern for me but the poorly lit outdoor entrance and the uneven ground outside. Then I found my 1 bedroom unit very cold and rather damp- not conducive to my leg issues. Also the unit was not that clean and really I left it cleaner when I left the next morning plus I had to wait sometime for the water in the bathroom to run warmer for a shower ! In addition being a prefab unit, it was very noisy outside with continual traffic into the AM of the next day. Breakfast posed other problems of being crowed into a small kitchen area , where I found a hair in my food. Hardly appetizing. Bought a hand crafted bag there and wanted to return it a day or so later. Singhs would not allow that. I sent it back by postal system and they would not even refund me part of what I paid for it which was $80 cash. I know ... I should never had purchased it especially with cash. Live and Learn!
