Spoon and the Stars Hostel

My friend and I stayed for one night in this welcoming and familiar location. The owner makes you feel at home, she is welcoming, sociable and professional! :) I had the opportunity to meet other guys who welcomed me as one of their own! If you are looking for humanity and listening, if you want tranquility but also sociability, then I absolutely recommend this B&B Thanks again to everyone for the welcome, the patience in listening to my English which is definitely not perfect and the curiosity in listening to my songs;) You are beautiful people and I will always carry you in my heart ☺️

Absolutely loved my time at The Spoon and the Stars!! Super friendly staff, clean rooms and ambiences, fair prices, perfect location. Drogheda is half way between Dublin and Belfast. I highly recommend the town and the hostel in which I'll be back again for sure!!

It was a really nice experience. The place is so cozy, the staff is friendly and compromised with us, as guests and clients. The localization is excellent and we have a bus stop just in front of the building. They serve breakfast, with everything that is needed for a meal in the morning. Definitely I would be back.

Possibly the worst place I’ve ever stayed in my life. We stayed in the “Deluxe” Queen Room. As soon as the door opened to our room, we were hit with an awful smell. After a quick search, we found a bin under the sink which had not been emptied and contained a DIRTY NAPPY and MAGGOTS on top of a lot of other rubbish. The smell of the room was absolutely disgusting and we were left with no choice but to leave all windows open in the room for the duration of our stay. The smell was still present the next morning. I alerted a member of staff who didn’t even know there was a bin under the sink until I showed her. The fridge contained two opened cartons of milk, one of which was days out of date. There was black mould in the bathroom cupboard, hairs on the bathroom floor and the shower was air-locked. We genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if all housekeeping did was change the bed sheets. There was no hairdryer or kettle which were described as included. Then, the next morning, two men knocked on our door at 10:30, asking us to leave the room when check out was at 11. They debated with us over what time check out was (when there was a literal poster on the wall outside our room stating that check out was at 11) and scoffed when we refused to leave. They had no cleaning supplies with them or uniform on so easily could’ve been two random men for all we knew. This is particularly concerning to me as a female stayer.

€100 for a small double room with a shared toilet and shower room experience for Drogheda and a “continental breakfast” is overpriced. The “continental breakfast” was cereal. Instant coffee, eggs in the fridge if ya want to make them yourself. That’s not a continental breakfast. No food to grab and go lol yoghurts, scones, bagels, croissants, pain au chocolat etc. And was told breakfast was over (even though it was before 10am. Noisy Dublin road outside so bring ear plugs. They need to keep an eye on toilet roll levels better. Showers and toilets modern enough.

Upon arrival my husband was charged 240euro for a double room for two nights. We were shown to a quirky room (toilet chairs?) and interesting antiques. However, once we arrived there were six flies! The next day I couldn’t bear it and asked the cleaner for a fly killer..the cleaner kindly sprayed the room on the second day… I didn’t feel very clean to be honest. After attending a wedding, we arrived at 11pm and couldn’t open the lock digit to open the door because it gets changed daily. I would have thought they’d changed the code in the morning not during the afternoon when we were out. I think for 120euros I wouldn’t stay there for hygiene reasons and lack of light /aircon again. However it’s near the bus terminal. I’m hoping we can get part refund… I didn’t sleep very well. Cleaner and kitchen maid kind though.
