My husband bought me a voucher for my 40th Birthday, i have been wanting to visit and stay at Tenahead for the past 6 years. This was truly a wonderful spoil. We arrived late afternoon, in the cold and mist to a room with a beautiful view of the stream and a little bit mountain due to the mist, the fire place was already lit for us which made the room warm and cosy, the heated flooring is an added bonus. Our 5 course dinner was served both nights in front of a fire place, so no need to wear big jackets inside. The food was top class and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. If you like relaxing in nature and mountain views this place is a must visit. We walked the red trail to the waterfall which was an easy walk about 3.5km with spectacular views on the river and mountains.

As return guests to Tenahead, we planned to stay 2 nights. However, when the scenery, openness, peacefulness and tranquility dawned upon us again, we opted for as 3rd night. What a pleasure and a treat. We will be back - again.

A very scenic and authentic Stone built Mountain Lodge & Spa at 2505m high in the Eastern Cape mountains north of Rhodes. Exclusive “old world” charm with welcoming hosts and very friendly staff make this a destination to include on your bucket list for at least two to three days . The Lodge has two comfortable lounges with good WiFi for chilling and reading, all with fireplaces for those chilly days /evenings and a viewing deck with jacuzzi . The breakfast is 5 star and dinner is a five course set menu to tantalise your taste buds. There is a separate Spa overlooking the valley and offering a variety of treatments. 7 Large ensuite bedrooms with King sized comfortable beds, a bar fridge, coffee/ tea station and seating area with wood fireplaces , large viewing windows of the hillside and river , big ensuite bathrooms with bath & shower overlooking the countryside, make this a very relaxing and most enjoyable stay to unwind. 2 Lovely picturesque walks from the lodge enable you to experience the vast beauty and peaceful surroundings of the hills and valleys with waterfalls, indigenous flora and the local birdlife. Don’t forget your binoculars and walking shoes.

What a beautiful setting! It is like another world up there. The lodge is beautifully done and is just the right balance between comfort and style. The rooms are very spacious with every amenity and indulgence you could ask for (see pics)! The managers were wonderful, super friendly and helpful and when we were there a little lodge Jack Russel named Tena was there who joined us on a walk and was a lovely addition! Lovely food, rooms and truly has everything one could hope for. BEWARE the drive up is not for sissies, we followed our GPS blindly as it calculated the shortest route, well that route was through incredibly worn farm roads and mountain. Not for our BMW 3 series, but three agonising hours later we made it up (without a tow). So ensure you go through Rhodes for the easiest route! But at the top we were greeted by welcoming faces, drinks and could laugh at our misadventure in comfort. On the expensive side and far out but what a pleasure, can't wait to go back!

We stayed in Tenahead after they had the heaviest snowfall in many years. What an experience! Jean-Marie and Franco are wonderful managers, the food out of this world, the hospitality warm and friendly. A bucket list stay was amazing

We took refuge for 6 days at Tenahead because we were caught in a snow blizzard on Naudes Nek. Jean-Mari and Franko, were the best hosts who did everything to ensure our stay was comfortable and they worked endlessly at clearing the road to allow us to safely leave. All the staff are amazing.

It is absolutely unbelievable to find tis quality of a 5 star lodge 2866m above sea level... The room, the view, the service and, above all, the food are all to write home about...

We loved our stay at Tenahead. The staff are kind and attentive and the lodge itself is lovely. The views were stunning from our room, and we saw amazing birds there too. Some from our bedroom window, some along the way on the hiking routes from the lodge. We would recommend Tenahead for people who like quiet, scenic spots and for people who don't mind a longer bumpy journey to get there.
