Premier Inn Solihull (Hockley Heath, M42)

Paid £200 for the 'privilege' to stay in what was a building site. No mention when looking/pre-booking on their website about the state of the hotel and the staff seemed surprised that I didn't know I would be sharing the hotel with builders.

This is not premier inn anymore .We wanted to take our mum away for a few days so we booked a coach holiday with Just go holidays . The coach and driver Phil was brilliant but the Hotel was not . On arrival we had booked 2 rooms ! with single supplement for our mother to find we were not even on the same floor together . I asked if they could help in any way and was told NO All the rooms were allocated and could not be changed .We could not believe their attitude .My mum is 86 and there was no way we could leave her in her own room without us being close by . Next thing was the dining area . We were told to be in dining room for 6 pm . We arrived in dining room to find 5 large round tables with most of the coach party sat at them There was not a table with 3 seats left so i asked what they could do . We were told they would bring in a table for us so had to sit separated from all other guests . The table was not dressed with tablecloth or we were not offered water or even cutlery . We had to keep asking for things so our first dining experience was not a good one . Next was the rooms . One room that we had we closed the curtains which had only 3 hooks on each curtain and the whole rail came down . It took 4 hours for them to fix it after asking several times .The food was shocking .except breakfast which was a buffet service The hotel is so understaffed but what a shame .Its a nice building and has the bones of being a good hotel but while being run the way it is [on a shoestring] I will not be going again or be recommending it

Huge Disappointment very scruffy hotel . I was advised renovations were in progress but the room given was not up to the standard expected at the Premier Inn

Staff welcoming at check in and provided a good pleasant service at breakfast. Building getting a bit worn and tired - needs a refurbishment, which appears to be happening based on current notices/activity on site.

Hotel has become tired since previous visit. Dangerous Pot Hole upon arrival in car park requires urgent repair. Breakfast was shocking. Crispy bacon was cremated and No fresh Orange Juice. Lack of topping up of the essentials on the buffet station.

We were woken at 0815 by the most horrendous crashing and banging from the room(s) directly above and it didn't stop. The walls of our room were liteally shaking. It turns out they were starting renovation work, but we hadn't been told. A colleague who checked in shortly after we did was told abot then work and given a room in a different part of the hotel, where it was quieter, but no such consideration for us. Be very careful if you're planning a stay. Ask when the work is expcted to finish. We mentioned the hellish din to reception, but the response was really just a shrug of the shoulders and a "you should have received an email about it". I've checked... and we didn't.

We stayed here for 3 weeks and we couldn't have asked for a more welcoming place. On our arrival, Adam helped us to unload a large number of heavy items from our car During our stay we had to move to another room and again, he and two others willingly offered to transfer everything. All of the staff were incredibly thoughtful and made a huge difference to what could have been a very stressful time. The hotel is in an excellent location and is currently undergoing refurbishment which should make it an ideal place to stay and , from our experience, w would thoroughly recommend it.

I stay in a lot of Premier Inns and the quality is definitely variable. This is the BEST one I’ve stayed at yet (and, completely coincidentally, the cheapest at £35). From Kasim on the front desk (could not have helped more) to the excellent staff in the Beefeater pub attached who were kind and friendly. Top marks all round!

If you are dependant / expectant on free Wifi then here is not the place for you. If Wifi is not a consideration then it provides what would be expected of a Premier Inn. It’s location provides easy access to the M42 and is but 8 miles from NEC.
