Hotel in zona Église Saint-Clair, Donville-les-Bains

Great position - good staff - nice rooms - super breakfast - excellent service & value - we stayed six nights and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and surroundings & so close to the town and beach. We will definitely stay again - good fun fitting the car in the underground car park!!

On arrival into the barrier restricted car park ( not free),We checked in and were immediately given a so called upgrade from an unfriendly receptionist. Reception is a tiny dark area down some steps from the car park. This room 211 was not the room we booked and was a family duplex,a dated room with small old wooden stairs overlooking the car park. It was also smelly and small. So we returned to reception and declined the so called upgrade and asked for the room we had paid and booked, through their website. What came to light was a ”we don't have it available ” so something else then,”a disabled room” was offered,no thanks just the room we have already paid for. After what seemed like an eternity a queue formed qnd eventually we were given a room of the same standard as we had booked.We overlooked our car and the road, great! No helpful information or even a simple courtesy for a messy start a scowling looking receptionist shooed us away. We were about to ask for a refund and go elsewhere this was a bad experience. Now the room quite simply we will never stay again. Any mention of a refurb is nonsense it isn't in the same condition as many other Ibis hotels that charge less. Small windows,pokey bathroom and sloppy pillows with dingy decor. One towel each,no hand towel,we were informed ”we don't do that here”. No bin in the room and a bathroom the same as a ferry boat with a poor shower. Breakfast was in a cramped room with tiny tables not well laid out or managed. It was barely functional with insufficient space for the number of guests. Breakfast included a very surly unpleasant unprofessional madam barking at guests and made it eventful for the wrong reasons. We packed up paid our parking,not free as listed this is misinformation and got out of the gloomy environment. The two stars are only for the reasonably comfortable bed and nothing else.

Chantore was the perfect place to stay when visiting Mont St. Michel - we could even see the Mont out our windows, past the beautifully restored and maintained grounds. (It was about a 30 - 40 minute drive to the Mont from Chantore.) The grounds are well worth visiting, with well-maintained paths leading past a number of massive historic trees dating back to the 1800's and historic restored follies. The house, decorated in 18th-century style throughout, contains a great deal of beautiful antique and restored artwork, and would be worth visiting for that alone. Our suite was extremely comfortable - the bathrooms were fully modern - and our host Bernard was very attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed. The breakfasts were excellent, among the best we have had in France.

Abbiamo pernottato in ben 19 persone presso questo hotel. Eravamo un gruppo di colleghi arrivati in bicicletta tramite la Veloscenie (Parigi-Mont Saint Michel). L'hotel è in una posizione perfetta, davanti al ponte che raggiunge l'isolotto raggiungibile a piedi o con shuttle gratuito (fermata davanti all'hotel). Le stanze erano ampie e accoglienti, molto belle le superior, mozzafiato la vista dal balcone. Unico neo: la colazione! Poca scelta, scarsa qualità, una sola persona che riforniva i tavoli del buffet praticamente sempre vuoti.

Prenotato con largo anticipo a Marzo per un viaggio in Agosto per la posizione strategica oltre la sbarra dei parcheggi. Alloggiando in questa sezione , viene fornito un codice da digitare alla sbarra per accedere ed emessi un ticket di 9.90€ da pagare poi in uscita entro le 24 ore. Hotel di vecchia costruzione , pulito e con camere abbastanza ampie, andrebbe un po' ripreso per mano per renderlo un po' più accogliente. Gentilissimo il personale della reception
