Fossardalur Guesthouse

We stayed here for one night. It was very comfortable, clean, and we felt welcomed. The Polish receptionist was super friendly, helpful and attentive. Common kitchen with utensils. Shared bathroom was clean. Warm. Great views and also some hiking opportunities nearby. Share the area with campsite but that is no problem, hardly notice they are there.

the campsite is lovely and has the best facilities for cooking. the common area is fab well heated and has everything to make a meal. the showers are joined to the toilets which may be an issue if there is a few people staying but as we had the campsite to our self that was no issue. my only concern is the hill to get up there. we visited on december 6th and the hill to get up there as awful! steep and full of ice. our van had absolutely no grip at all and we weren’t sure if we would even get up however we would not of been able to turn around. please please be mindful of this if you are planning to stay in icy/winter conditions!

Campsite! The indoor kitchen space in this campsite was the best we experienced in Iceland. I downloaded the Tripadvisor app just to review this. We have stayed at many campsites in our month here, some great, some not so great. But here the kitchen/inside area was such a surprise. The area is beautiful, the best we have experienced. The showers are included, there are three. The showers are also raised, so the rest of the room is dry if you are getting changed, this is the only time we found this in Iceland and these things make a difference if you are camping, would recommend this campsite to anyone.

The guest house is set back from Rt. 1, and has the feeling of being somewhat isolated, but upon arrival there were many people onsite as the proprietors also run a campground for tenters and campervans. The campers have their own facilities so they did not mingle with guest house occupants. The outside of the guest house is quite unspectacular but the facilities inside were really nice. The room was spacious and clean. The dining room area was also quite spacious and the use of the kitchen and refrigerator was appreciated. The rest room facilities get high marks. Negatives? None. Would definitely stay here again!
